EB Games fails again...

Well I went to my local EB Games and was told I should have pre-ordered the pre-order, to ensure I got a pre-order as they would have had to order the pre-order in order to make sure i got it.

Seriously, according to a post by Inde, NCSoft is footing the bill for the pre-order packages.
If you put down money, you should demand the pre-order package when it comes in. EB Games loses nothing in the deal.
If EB Games refuses, burn their store to the ground (or just shop somewhere else to avoid annoying legal problems).

Went in today and sure enough...two days AFTER the announced date it would be on the shelves, it is....still NOT on the shelves.
Alex Weeks if you are reading...do you have any idea why these partner merchants don't have the pre order package Anet announced they should have by now?
UPDATED: It appears they SHIPPED the boxes on the 28th and will be in stores next week about March 7th or so. They really need to proof their webpages better...
Thank you.

What Im curious about is Gamestop bought ebgames (and gamestop does not show up I hate X because of y like eb does...) yet they perfer the eb game logo due to being more known...

I registered just to crash this thread.
I got my CE preorder about three days ago, maybe four. I ordered from EB Games. I used their website though. Maybe that's the source of your problems.
Anyhow, the actual preorder package is a DVD case, very different than the original Guild Wars preorder's cardboard box (I got that too).

I think your best bet is online preordering. I looked for about 2 days all over the town and was unable to get it anywhere. The guy at best buy told me that they had it in stock but coudln't find it, this after telling me not to worry about the fact that they dont reserve titles, as he didn't think it would be a big seller. Thanks dude, you screwed me. So I ended up buying it offline, got the preorder disk 2 days later, only bad part was paying th $4 for shipping, but oh well, I got what I wanted, and now im a happy camper!
For the most part gaming stores are FTL unless the manager happens to be into the same game that you are.

I ordered my preorder from ebgames.com. The bonus disc was shipped via United States Postal Service on the 13th.
Still hasn't arrived. Super pissed.

ordered from gamestop, and bought one from best buy. I ordered CE from gamestop shipped within a week. Now waiting on the release. I bought a regular edition from bestbuy, I will pick it up release day.
Prefectus
yeah i droped my eb order and went with best buy for the ce

EB was sold out of CE (possible?) and had no preorder packages left. The guy helped me as much as he could. Out of all the years I have been gaming, EB games hasn't really let me down, and I don't really understand what all the hype is about. Sure, they make mistakes, and things don't get there on time, everytime, but everybody makes mistakes. Suck it up.
capblueberry
a mistake is one thing, but to tell me to my face that they will call me (the MANAGER said that) and not do it, thats lieing
eternal pho
i personally do not like EB games b/c they scam u with its prices
Masseur
I walked into a Gamestop a couple weeks ago, which is EB Games since they are both one and the same now, and bought my preorder with no problems.
Dragonblood
I had no problem getting the pre-order from the EB Games where I live. But the salesguy did have a problem finding GW:Factions on thier system, but lucky for me a salesgirl there over heard us, and told the salesguy where to look on the system. So I know that the EB Games where I live will get both Standard & CE versions.
Former Ruling
My friends pulled their pre-orders form my EBgames also.
Mine said they didn't plan on offering the pre-orders, and still dont beleive me when I say Factions has a CE....

Well I've had a problem with EBGames since Gamestop bought them. I never liked Gamestop, but they do seem to be the ones with the pre-order packages, my roomate got his from there. I don't care too much about it, while I would like to have it because I enjoy concept art, I don't care as long as they deliver my game on time.

Screw EB and all those other hacks......order from Amazon. They are awesome.

Heh, I got my package march 14th. Yesterday i went to preorder another factions for my cousin, I asked them "Can i preorder Guildwars Factions" and they said "I'm sorry but there is no such game as that" I said "Get your eyes checked, look again" He said "Ok".... He searched and searched and he said "Look! There is no such game" "Come here" And i said its a PC game. Then he started lecturing me on how your sopose to say the system before even saying tha game... So he found it, I was carring a 20 in my hand (i had no change) he said the pre-order is 20 dollars.... I said 5 dollars... He said "Hey look! im a professional at Eb Games, and its 20 dollars! you get 5 dollars off the game itself!" Then the manager walked in and saw us arguing and said, "is there a problem" And i said "this @$$H()L3 is charing me 20 dollars for a 5 dollar pre-order. The manager said get out to the worker. Then i asked him for faction, i gave him 5 dollars. I asked for the pre-order package and he said "Ohh there out". I just grabbed recite and left....

It seems a lot of us are getting burned trying to pre-order.
I work in Northern NJ (near Giants stadium). I went to 2 Best Buys in the area..no luck.
I live in Central NJ. I went to 2 Best Buys, and 1 CompUSA. 1 store had the regular version; no one had the Collector's...
Didn't think it would be such a PAIN to pre-order this...

I pulled my pre-order from EB since my store never got any preorders in...BS. Droped the preorder and went with Gamestop which gave me my box and my CE preorder deposit
and I'm not going to begin when after you buy a game they force you to preorder ANOTHER game...gah ><

The local GameStop here is usually pretty good with this sort of thing, but not this time. I went in shortly after the pre-orders started and put my $5 down. "Sorry, we haven't gotten the pre-order packages in yet. Check back later to pick one up." Okay, I figure that's no problem, so I wait a couple weeks and go back. "Sorry, we're out and probably won't be getting any more." . . . Well that's just great.
Hopefully I can find somewhere else in town with pre-order packages left, because I'm going to be pissed if I can't get a pre-order key even though I've pre-ordered.
ArenaNet really needs to find a better way to do this sort of thing.

Sorry if this comes out a bit disjointed.. I just woke up from a moderately unsatisfying nap.
I dunno where all these horror stories from EB Games come from... the one near me is awesome. My step-dad pre-ordered his copy, took the package in hand that day, and is having the game mailed to him for the 27th.
I pre-ordered 2 copies for myself and the Fiance... we didn't go early enough to get the pre-order package, but oh well. After reading what Gaile had to say yesterday, we phoned our local EB Games up today, and were informed that our lil' Canadian shop prolly wouldn't receive any of the new pre-order kits. Instead, it's been arranged for us, to receive 2 cd-keys from the Customer Service dept. on Monday or Tuesday (I dun't remember which day) via the goold ol' telephone. Apparently they use a U.S. specific postal service and thus can't just mail us 2 kits. No big deal, really.. we just want the access keys and the pre-order items, as the step-dad has given us all the extra crap out of his pre-order package.
When the dude in the shop couldn't get me what I wanted, I just phoned Customer Service. Truth be told, they're pretty helpful people, and generally give ya what you want if it'll keep your money going into their pockets.
You'd probably get more out of it a situation like this if you called Customer Service and bitched at them, rather than bitching on the forums about how terrible it was.

Whoo! Good old Software Etc. comes through again. The first game store in this city, and apparently still the best. I called around and found that they were the only place in town with a pre-order package left. I say "a" package because they only had one left, but still--they even set it aside for me so it wouldn't get taken before I could get there to place the pre-order. The local EB Games never even got any of the packages and GameStop, as I mentioned above, ran out.
I am now content and happy.

ebgames always does this but for some lucky reason i got my preorder package and stuff
LordDeArnise
I know your pain. I was fortunate to get my pre-order packages even though I cancelled my SE preorder to preorder the CE. Locally, my Best Buy store could use some improvement in their stock of PC games, but at least my local EB Games and Gamestop are decent enough when it comes to pre-orders; the guys there are pretty friendly. When all else fails, there's a local Circuit City to go to too, which was where I found C&C: The First Decade, a game the other stores didn't have.
