I recently got a rune of Major Vigor from some dwarven armor. I was fortunate enough to run into someone at Yaks Bend who was generous enough to give me the expert salvage kit I needed to salvage it! Thank you whoever you were.....

now, after going to the rune vendor in Ascalon City I found out I could sell if for like almost 5,000 gold!! to me, that is alot. I have played the game on and off since launch and just got enough gold to buy my guild cape yesterday. Lets just say it takes me a while to collect gold. 4,000 gold now would be a lot! Should I sell the rune of Major Vigor to the dealer? how do I get it off of my helm that I applied it to should I decide to sell it? I am suddenly getting into the game again now that I got mycape and an expert salvage kit! I am level 13 and moving on up! thanks to everyone who replies.

If you find gold hard to come by.. I'd wait until you have an endgame set of armor to apply your rune. Something like droks or even 15k.

To get it off the helm you already applied it to, for selling or keeping, you'd need to expert salvage the helm. Unfortunately the downside to this is that you'd lose the helm and there's a chance that you would lose the rune (though they might've changed that).

First option, salvage it and sell it. By the sounds of it, you are a casual player, nothing wrong with that, so the gold may well serve you better right now, than possibly saving it for quite a while. By the time you get to Droks, if you are playing thru, which I assume you are(running costs gold, and ruins the experience for first timers), by the time you get to Droks 4000g doesnt hold the same value as it does at Ascalon. You should be able to afford another , or better yet you stand a good chance of finding another,I find them quite frequentley. As to the salvaging issue, I think,I may be wrong, its about a 75% chance of succesful salvage, with an EXPERT kit. In all my time Ive had 1 rune note salvage out of armor, and I have salvaged a lot(4 sets of armor), I think my one Maj Vig has been salvaged 3 seperate times, chances are in your favor, so dont be too worried.
Last option(possibly best),keep it, 40 hp for a warrior is not a bad thing, Im not sure if the Helm is where you should have it, never played a warrior, but it probably wont hurt for now.

I usually save my major vigors runes, if not for the character I am playing for my next one, I when it is time to upgrade your armor, I put vigors on my chest or pants, reserving the head gear, for a sup rune so I can max out a stat.

Chances are you will fine another vigor rune, heck I have a mule just for runes. So it comes down to this, do you want the extra health points now or the extra money now, plus since you will have to replace the helmet and get another vigor rune you will need to add that into the cost.

Tell you what I got minor vigors to spare, pm in here so we can set up a trade. I'll buy your major vigor and give you a minor, for free.

By the time you get to Drok's you are probably going to want a superior vigor anyway, so I would sell it as it will go a long way to buying you better armor to get through the middle of the game. Buy minor runes in the interim until you get to the Drok's. The difference between minor and major is only 10 health points and for the most part 10 points usually don't matter.

I wouldn't apply it to you armor until you get the highest protection armor - at Droknar's Forge, if that's the route you decide. You can put it on now, but then you risk losing it when expert salvaging it, not a great chance, but it's there. If you do choose to sell it, sell it to a player, not the rune trader, as you can ususally get 200 - 300 more for it that way. Recently, I saw the trader selling them for 4,900g and buying them for 3,700g. At that selling price, you can reasonably expect to sell it for 4,000g - saving the buyer 900g and getting you 300g more than you would have by selling it to the merchant- a win-win situation.

NOTE

the BEST i have done on resalvaging runes is about a 25-35 percent FAILURE RATE

you have the rune so why not keep it and use it?

if the salvage fails you lost both the rune and the gold.

and a Superior vigor is only 10 more HP's than a Major, and each of those hp's cost appx 3000 ea. If 10 hp's really didnt matter than vigor runes wouldnt be the price they are. But what ya gonna do, if you want the sup vig you gotta pay.

You can use a rune of major vigor on any character.

And yes, I would use the major vigor rune once you find one. If you don't salvage it, it only costs 2K to replace.

Wrong, Superior Vigor is only *9* HP more than a Major.
