Hacking through GW?

This guy in Deldrimor keeps scamming people and I started to annoy him with opening/closing the trade channel and he said his guild would hack me.
I was laughing at him because how on earth is he going to hack me through a game? I haven't really saw people that got their account get "hacked" but my question is, is it possible?

screenshots/send/report it to gw support = get him banned. or even his whole guild banned. that would teach him a valuable lesson.

but again annoying him, might get you timed banned, too.lol

I won't say it isn't possible, because what people can make, other people can break usually. However I haven't heard of any hacking yet, so I wouldn't be to worried by his threat. GW is mostly server side based, which means ANet controls the brunt.

Guild wars is a server controller program, meaning your computer doesn't do anything to change the mechanics of the game. Creatrue health, damage, recharge times, everything takes place on Arenanet servers. The only thing that your computer does is load graphics and sound. The absolute worst you could do to hack guild wars is to change how it looks on your computer, or to make a bot (botting is illegal in GW). Do not trust anyone who says they hack, or try to give you hacks.

Do watch out for keylogger programs though. Keylogger programs record the keys you stroke on your pc, therefore allowing whoever installed the keylogger program on your pc to acquire you password and e-mail. Then they log into you account and steal all of your stuff!

Most times when the person says they'll hack you. They are just talking crap to scare you.

well lets see...how many people actually know how to "hack" and by hack I mean penetraiting a firewall though means of what..the internet? needing your IP? I'm pretty sure you cant take an accurate reading of ONE IP out of say 50 people. And even so, if you have a router it would make things more difficult needless to say, youre pretty much safe. Only little kids say that they will hack computers.

Report every hacker (or supposed hacker) immediatly...they don't need to pull that shizz in a game for God's sake, so why let them:

A:talk crap and feel like they rock

or

B:actually hack your comp (though i dont think this is too easy to do through a game such as this)

I know how to scam in guild wars.
I know some one that got like 30 accounts of guildwars
but I will never scam some one~
tho when you know how to hack you think "wtf so easy"

Ya he can't hack through GW. Unless he makes you visit a link or open an email or whatever. AFAIK nothing is exchanged between user machines, everything goes through the server. He has no direct line to your machine. I call bullshit.

I agree with what everyone above has posted, being a network administrator the only possible ways of him "hacking" your account is through you visiting a link he gives you (using exploits in browsers like what most spyware use), has you download something such as a Keylogger/Trojan horse, or talks to you outside of game (ie. AIM/MSN/Yahoo/etc...) and would have to use a Windows exploit to install a keylogger/trojan.

but my recommendation is just toss the guy on ignore and don't worry about it, 99% of the people that say they can "hack" you don't know the meaning of hacking or how to hack, and just say it in an attempt to scare you.

one of my friends was hacked. They changed one of his characters names to "I got pwnd by Hackz"

Well sorry but that is technically impossible unless they found a bypass for the creating/deletion/naming system, because you can't change your name in Guild Wars. And creating a program/virus that can hack through an Anet system isn't that "omg easy"!
