pretty simple as long as you have a good b/p team and an orders necro. i use the following...
SS
fiends
horrors
BoM
V.Sac
Heal Area
Rebirth
Death Nova (when I know one of my minions is going to die)

All your job is, is to create a wall so monsters can't get to the rangers. Usually I have the orders working overtime for me. I use SS for the start of each floor and while in battle. I rarely use my staff or truncheon to attack.

^ Why don't you use Heal Area that offen? Not only does it heal you're Hell bots, but if you bunch together with the two Nukers that may come along with you,it just might save their lives. Also being am MM can mean having some down time[waiting for corpses] so why not help out the Monk and cast Healing Breeze/ Guardian on teamates while waiting, you're gonna get energy from Soul Reaping anyway.Take some pressure off the Monks.

Ive tried OoB, ive tried heal area, and everything people claim to be good. But you really cannot beat this one:

N/E

16 Death
13 Soul Reaping

Res Sig
Veratas Sacrifice
Blood of the Master
Glyph of Energy {E}
Animate Bone Fiend
Rotting Flesh
Death Nova
Putrid Explosion

basically, you spam fiends till youre low on energy, when you pull in the glyph and get a 5 energy fiend.
Use Veratas whenever its ready, and BotM is just there for when hurt is being piled unto a pack of close together fiends.
Theres really no need for OoB, as:
1. This sacrifices soul reaping which leads to energy problems in the first place
2. Glyph of Energy is obviously the better skill when spamming high energy spells (i.e fiends)
Rotting Flesh is for when the grasps are all huddled together, Putride Exlosion same idea, and Death Nova is perfect to punish the grasps for killing pets.
I have found no weaknesses in this build at all, and can only hope you find the same thing.

I'd suggest bringing along two summoning spells. It gives you two lines of meat shields. The primary reason for needing two "levels" of shields is the Dryders. Their AoE attacks will tear apart your fiend stack and leave your group exposed.

I've experimented with Horrors vs Minions, and I think your /E build might make the Minions a great solution. I've found when I try to run Minions and Fiends that I'm always short on energy whereas with Horrors and Fiends, I can manage my energy a bit better. Having 2 summons per corpse (Minion) makes for awesome meat shielding for your ranged attackers. I'd suggest switching out either Putrid or Rotting for Summon Bone Minions and see how it works. I'd be interested to hear!

For MM you don't really need Heal Area, you can kee pyour minions up just fine with vereta's and BoTm.

indeed...i dont even need a full skill set....

Feinds, Horrors, BoTM, Verat. Sac is pretty much al you ned as MM, but i have a N/W so i can use Healing.sig right after sacrafices to refill health immediately..and the monks dont have to worry.

I see some people pack Rotting Flesh....but i pack Deathly Swarm + Enfeeble + Virulence to deal more damage and more degen for less energy. Enfeeble + Virulence causes weakness, disease, and poison for only 10 energy and add D.Swarm to deal good damage to up to 3 enemies.

I like that virulence + enfeeble build. I might give it a shot myself.
I find it very odd that you don't use Verata's Sacrifice, Hero. It's essential for keeping your minions alive.

Guess I'm a N/Mo user as well. I mm for tombs and oro/sf quite a bit and use the following build:

Death: 16 (sup+hat)
Healing: 9 (minor)
Soul Reaping: 10 (minor)

Horrors
Fiends
Tainted Flesh (sometimes SS)
BotM
Ver.Sac
Heal Area
Taste of Death
Rebirth/Resurrection

Someone mentioned a good reason for a "dual" wall of minions against the terrors in tombs - very good reference. Plus, if you get interrupted, you have the other to go to real quick. While one's charging, use the other.

I bring Tainted Flesh to spread disease on enemies. Really cheap, maxed out with death attribute, and has little recharge time. Death Nova is nice but only if your minion/pet dies which is not always the case; with Tainted, you can bet your target is going to get hit. Don't get the pop that Death Nova gives, but has like a -7 degen across multiple opponents. Once in a while I'll put some points to curses and use SS for about 19-21 dmg but since its expensive, I typically dont use.

Ver.Sac used everytime its recharged. Before battles and after battles, I'll use BotM and then hit heal area to not only heal minions but recoup lost health on myself. Timing on these between Ver.Sac can be important to prevent too much loss of health on your minions, too.

Taste of Death is optional and can be subbed in by others, but I bring it in case I need quick healing. Rebirth or some other rez skill always comes in handy.

I'd almost say the staple MM build always involves these:

Horrors
Fiends
Verata's Sac
Blood of the Master

For mine (N/Mo), add in:

Heal Area
Rebirth
Enfeeble
Virulence

I usually play alongside my wife who runs an interrupt Ranger. Sometimes she brings traps or Melandru's Arrows, in which I can usually take out Enfeeble for Deathly Swarm, since she supplies the conditions. I only have a couple of points in Curses, so Enfeeble has a short duration, but it's plenty and on it's own it can mean life and death of your front line Horrors.

I got 10 in Healing (which I raise and lower to find the right amount of Healing vs. Soul Reaping), which makes it a darn good self-sufficent heal, and from time to time really helps out the healer with other teammates.

I run this:

N/Mo

Scar armor
20/20 Cast/Recharge offhand
20 Recharge Wand
16 Death
10 Blood
10 Soul Reaping
Leftover points in Protection Prayers

Offering of Blood
Deathly Swarm
Rotting Flesh
Verata's Gaze
Animate Fiend
Animate Horror
Blood of the Master
Rebirth

Works well and I almost never have energy management issues. I like Rebirth in there because it's a repeatable rez. I've been the last alive in a few groups and we've pulled it out because I could multi-rez.

Deathly Swarm and Rotting Flesh are personal choices. I like swarm for it's multi-target damage. Rotting Flesh is just nice as a general degen for big mobs of popups. If you want a self-heal then take out either of these and replace it with Taste of Death.

Verata's is the bread and butter skill for keeping minions/horrors alive. Honestly, they won't last more than two encounters anyway. Blood of the Master is fine for quicky heals when you have time. You won't use it too much because you don't want to be anywhere near your minions when they are fighting. Getting popup aggro sucks big time so I always hang back.
