From what i have read from different threads about this certain topic, everyone will start from scratch.

Everything is wiped, guilds, items, gold, even what your character's avatar. All that is left is your name which is reserved for you.

So it will be like playing for the first time but with a name reserved for you.

Don't forget the special items for the people who pre-ordered/bought collectors edition...
EB Games Preorders get the "Ithas Bow"
and you get the "Divine Aura" with the collectors edition, which doesnt really seem to do anything

Pardon me if I seem rude. Quoting myself above, I stated that I was able to talk to Gaile. For those who know who Gaile is, then ignore what I am saying. For those who do not know who Gaile is, then listen up. Gaile works for ArenaNet. She is in contact with the developers/programmers. She always showed up in Lion’s Arch district 1 in the few last hours of each Beta Weekend Event (BWE). She would be the closest contact, and leading informer on what will be wiped and what will not be wiped. During the very last BWE, I asked her what would happen to the guilds, and would they be wiped as well. Her response to my question was, “No the guilds will not be wiped.” This means though your character is starting from scratch, it will still belong/lead any guild that you were in during the BWE, plus any per-order items/Divine Aura that your character may start with. So with a 97.0% confidence level (yes, I am using statistics now), I say that GUILDS WILL NOT BE WIPED. I say 97%, because there is still the 2% possibility that at the very last second, the developers decided to wipe all the guilds from the server. In addition, there have been posts from above that come from GuildWars.com’s FAQ.

See DigitalX's post above for the quote pulled from the FAQ

Therefore, unless everyone in a guild deletes all of their characters off their accounts, then that guild should still exist. I noticed when a guild leader deletes all characters off his account; the system will appoint a new guild leader from the current membership.

yes the guest pass is just that a guest. In order to play on the 27th or 28 you will need to get an beta code key or the full verson of the game. I do not belive anything under a guest pass gets saved.

Your guild name will stay, and from what you heard from gaile your guild members will still be under that name. I stll belive that you will have to register and buy you gild halll agin. this is so everyone starts on the same level. Not just everyone starting on level one, but also so that some people are not penalized for not playing Beta. I dont think that its right that some would start off basicly 1100 better off than others.

In order for you to have your guild name attached to your account, the guild has to exist. If the guild exists, then your Guildhall will also exist. Your flags should stay the same, but I know from the first wiped in messed up the color schemes of several guilds, mine included.

When you make a guild your guild it still exists with or with out a guild hall, i wonder is everyone is still in your guild, but in order to play any GvG you need to register and the other.

The only reason why I question this is because they have stated that it shall be a lvl playing field. We guild members starting out 1100 gp ahead of the newbies doesnt seem lvl to me.

Characters in a guild will stay in their guild, as for the guild rating, I figure they will be set to 1000. You cannot have a guild without a guildhall, unless I missed something in the last BWE, then when you create a guild you got a guildhall; but in order to have a flag/cape you would have to pay 1000.

When you create your guild you get nothing, to get your cape/guild hall you need to pay the 1000.

I knew about paying 1000 gp for the flag, but as for the guildhalls I knew that you could choose what type you wanted. In addition, I have had my guild since the World Wide Event during E3.

You need a sigil to get a boat ride then the guild leader can pick the hall. Your guild leader must have done it early because I've seen screens of my guild in a guild hall for the February BWE, but we didn't have a guild hall for all of the March BWE and about half of the April BWE...

(as you can tell we're not exactly a competitive GvG guild...)

So is it posible to delete a guild if you messed up on the tag (the 4 letters that follow the members name) and remake it at a later time, or is there a way to change the tag with out deleting the guild?

Yes you will have to disband your guild and reform it, I mess up my guild name and had to do that.

...what about the remaining 1%? What then! *bites nails*

BTW, when I created our guild on the last BWE, it was only $100, and the registrar was easy to find. I wonder if it was just for the last BWE?

Okay, so after reading through, I'm still a bit confuzzled.

Game releases on the 28th.
I preordered from EBoutique, does this mean that I and the other preorders get access to the game before everyone else? IE, we can go in and pick it up before the 28th? And can we access the game online before the 28th? Has this all been officially confirmed?

You will not recieve the game on the 28th if you pre-ordered it, atleast that is how it usually is.

You will recieve the game either a couple days later or whatnot...this is if the game is shipping to your house. If the you "reserved" the game than you should be able to pick it up at your local EBgames store or Gamestop and get it. This is a much more preffered option, and is the one where you bought the game with preorder disc inside (beta keys, screenshots, music, etc.)

Hope that helped.

You can use your Beta key on the 27th 12:01 pst for 48 hours and play the game. Everything that you do from this point on will not be stripped or lost. After the 48 hours runs out you must enter your regular game key code to continue playing. Hope that clears things up.

So I have to get the preorder package (they were out of them at the time, were reordering more) and that'll let me play online until the game becomes available to the general public on the 28th?

if you got a preorder beta key, you will be able to play starting in the morning on the 27th. you'll need to buy the full game and enter in the retail key after 11:59PM PST on the 28th.

After reading that Pre order players get to start playing Guild Wars earlier than the rest I contacted EB Games to find out whether this was happening. They told me that they would be giving the game out on the 28th regardless of whether you preordered or not. Im from New Zealand so perhaps that has something to do with it.

Anyone else finding they are in the same situaiton as me?

I know the release day is the 28th but will that be in Australia, from what i been told because we don't have our own sever we'll have to log on to the US sever. but we're a day ahead of the states, so what's the go? Do we have to wait for the US severs to go up or will we get in early?

Somewhere along the ways you guys have made a simple idea really confusing and are telling yourself your right here. But sit back and think this through for a sec ... all of us who pre-ordered are entitled to access the game 48 hours prior to release.

The actual release date is the 28th. So "Joe Smith" from Los Angelas, will walk into his local retailer pick up his copy on the 28th and play that day!

All of us who get the advance, can access it 48 hours prior. Your calculations keep showing 24 hours prior and 24 after it is released to the public. Thats not right.

48 hours equals the 26th. so we will be able to access the game on Teusday.
It comes to the public Thursday, except if you bought it at EB ... they should have it Teusday for their pre-order list only, mine will have it anyways.

So we can access it before, but then our accounts will freeze on the 28th. We then have to type in our access code from the 'release box' to re-activate or un-freeze our accounts.

Cheers, and I'll see you online!

Its not 48 before release, its 48 hours with out a retail cd-key.

You can play the 47tt-48th withouth a key, i.e. 48 hours.

All right, here's ArenaNets' support listing on it. Please notice that it says "up to 48 hours of game time before Guild Wars is on the shelves". It does not strictly say that you will have exactly 48 hours of Early Access, but somewhere between 0 and 48 hours.

They do however list the times that Early Access will be provided as "12:01 a.m. Pacific Time (08:01 GMT) on April 27th, and end at 11:59 p.m. Pacific on April 28th (07:59 GMT April 29th)", which seems to be roughly 48 hours. Since the game does release on the 28th though I'd wager that the other assumptions that you may use your pre-order key until 11:59 p.m. on April 28th before putting in your retail key are correct. Still, I don't work for ArenaNet, so my word on this is not law. Hopefully they'll make good on their "more details will be provided closer to launch" statement at the bottom of the support listing.

the official statement was for one day early for pre orders which is 24 hours
in addition the preorder key would be good for another 24 hours of the day of the release (48 hours minus 2 minutes) at which time you must enter a retail key to continue playing
both 24 and 48 hour timing explained
nobody is on prior to the 27th because the servers will not be live until then

also. on the last bwe. the guild cape only cost 100gold. i heard it was 1000gold at the previous bwes.

anyone know if it will be back to 1000gold for a cape @ full release. Im sure no one would complain if it was kept at 100gold.

yup. that why i question why your guild should be attached to your account, it was said that forcing all your characs to have the cape already? I wouldnt mind 1 or 2, but it has to be all?

brings me to my question:
has anyone seen this. your 1st charac has a guild and when you played your second charac @ lvl 1, did it already have a cape, or just the tag w/o a cape. which will that mean it can make another cape design w/ the same guild name...or be forced to buy the existing guild cape design...etc...

if someone can clarify. that would be great.

I have 4 characters. Will all 4 names be reserved for me?

When I log in...I am asked my email address and password...there is nowhere to put in a retail key. Will I have to install the new retail CD in order to be given that option? I assume I can just load the CD over top of what I already have.
