Best place to find Black dye.

Is there certain area or type of mob that seems to drop more black dye than anywhere else? Or is it more of a general random drop?

In my experience ive only got 2 black dyes, and both of them dropped early in the game.

As I said in the other thread, I farmed four black dyes from the four griffons I killed outside augury rock. Maybe this is just because I was the first person to farm their since the nerf? I don't know, its worth a try though.

If you must have dye, then it's a numbers game. Go after mobs that have lots of members and that you can kill easily. Then it's just a matter of time before the dyes start dropping.

Yep.. u want easily solo-able (?) enemies.. pref warriors that are lowish level and quick to kill. There is no certain enemy that will give black dyes but farming mass numbers of 1 type may help. I suggest minotaurs outside ice tooth cave

I don't know about the rest of you, but I usually find it sitting on the ground after some random critter has dropped it.

OK some serious advice... Try looking someplace you have not been in a LONG time... for me it was the area between yaks bend and ice caves... I had not been up there in an age. I mean seriously a very long time... and I went up there with some guildies cause I was bored. Well whip me, beat me, take away my yakslapper... 2 black dyes and a gold armor drop! Now I'll admit I only got a major vigor rune from the gold armor, but still!!! that was an easy 15k at the NPC merchants... I've been expanding this to other areas. Like dragons gullet and down the falls... majesty's rest... lots of places I just don't seem to go anymore, and guess what... drops are really quite good in those areas from time to time... so don't just focus on one or two farming spots. do some questing and exploration... heck soloing some of these areas are a breeze compared to SF or UW... so finding good drops should be pretty good...

Oh and here is one of my personal favorites I normally keep to myself but since we are SOOO close to chapter 2 what the heck... Take a look at the Aurora Glade Bonus areas.... some really pleasing mods and dye drops in there... I think you will be happy with the stuff around the Demagogue.

Oh here is another hint... if you go to a place and there is like NO ONE there... I mean only like 20-30 people max. chances are there is a good farming spot someplace around your position.... Because normally the farmed out locations are overpopulated... Now dont be ridiculous and expect high level drops in the ascalon areas... but still... There is one mission particular in Fire islands that is often neglected, but often turns up some really nice drops... and many areas in the jungle yeild good mod drops (mods are maxed but weapon is not, good to salvage for mod to put on something else) from time to time too... the high altitude areas are not the only regions that have good drops you know good luck...

I've had black dye in pre-searing, and there are lvl 20 characters there with full armour. So it jsut depends how lucky you are to be in the right place at the right time when that illusive black dye you are seaching for drops.
