Why am I getting Ripped off?

Can someone explain this to me? is it a bug? am i pulling a noob moment? I am doing my normal ettin farm and twice this happends. I get a gold drop, then after i identify it with a Superior then salvage with a Supeiror it turns purple. once it a while it happends before today. but why?

because it's random, gold just means that theres a chance of it being a superior, not that it definately will be.

It happens a long time ago. Gold armors can turn out either major and superior runes. This is old news.

well this is a rare thing for me then, its almost always a superior for me, guess i just ahve been lucky. odd, purple ones before ident are purple, it just doesnt seem right that when you find a purple, it stays purple, yet when you find a gold, you MAY get a sup.

Expect a superior rune if the armor on the Ettin's Pauldron is 39+ other than that dont get too excited. i dont know if this is actually true but my friend and i seem to get superiors most of the time when the armor is 39+

reading a ettin pauld in gold text telling me its a major just doesnt seem to go with the theme of things, my point really. if its gold, it should be sup. period. if its purp, then its a major, etc.

HAH, ok i deserved that. ive been farming too long and hoping too much.. so far today ive goton 6 golds, all major. thi si snot normal fo rme. i either get purples or a gold once in a while thats actually a sup. nerfed etting farming nooo! lol

[edit] just got another that had a 31 armor, and it turned out to be a sup blood rune. ive never paid so close attention to ettin farming before today. trying to understand the system is becoming a bit "from the hip"

The funniest thing about this thread is that you actually wasted a salvage on the Major Mesmer rune.

actually the armor of the pauldron doesnt help. ive gotten sup abs off 31,33 35 armored pauldrons.

LOL Yes funny indeed. To the op next time you id an armor + it sucks, you should sell it as is. Mainly because, 90% of the time it'll be worth more than salvaging the sucky rune out've it.

Why would it be worth more?

Sell the rune for 25 gold vs. sell the armour with rune for 75 or so at the merchant.

Ah..so unless it's a superior rune, most people won't bother buying it?

Also, the unlock happens when you ID it not salvage it right?

i think im just going to sell mine unidentified from now on , i had 3 golds in one run and all turned out to be major.

doesent matter wat color u pick it up in maybe exept if its normal cuz i dont know if it will become gold
