question on Thunderhead Keep and last missions...what should I use

Right now my ranger is in Thunderhead Keep. I have to complete this mission and the island missions. I felt good about all my skills till I got here. Everything I use seems to be a little of this and that but nothing focused. What skills should I use to make him a good grouper and finish out this character?

I have all the bows and all the traps I have found till now.

thanks big time for help...seems that every time I switch one skill to do something I am lacking in something else. Have poison arrow and all the elites I could find but when I got barrage I think I relied on it too much with disreguard of other skills.

again thanks for any help with this question that has no set answer.
Just want to help group and get going again.

before I forget I am monk secondary but will change to anything that will help
pet is only level 15 and have not done much with it in a while

in THK for a ranger it's good to take some traps,interupts,posion...
it worked fine to me

At this point you might seriously consider speciallizing in a skill set and max out one ability. For instance, I really enjoy a interupt ranger.

Basically that is where skill comes in, you can't be top (LVL 16) at everything, you have to decide, max out marksmanship for major hitting power, max out wilderness for trappping and self heal, max out expertise for reduction of skill points, crucial for interupting.

Now I'm sure other's will give you a different rundown and hopefully help pick apart my PvE Ranger but I usually run this:

Apply Poison
Distracting Shot
Dust Trap
Barbed Trap
Whirling Defenses
Troll Unguent
Oath Shot
Rez Sig

I find it can be pretty useful for supporting the group and throwing some status affect/DoT all around. Downside is obviously the amount of "No Flesh" creatures you will fight to negate the bleeding and poison. When it comes to those enemies I normally drop dust traps anyway and focus on distracting shots. Whirling+traps allows you to sneak into the middle of the fight and I've been loved by warriors and monks alike when I can keep the Jade's blinded.

m0gden are you using oath shot to reset traps or ?
I like the idea of whirling and traps.
has the trap nerf hurt it much?

what stats and runes are you using?

Trappers work great for THK and the very last mission... think it's called Hell's Precipice... where u can bring a lvl 11 Winter to really take down those Titans

for RoF and Abandon's... i'd just go as a Barrager tbh

Yeah I use Oath Shot for recharging traps when needed. If I'm carrying throw dirt over a rez sig or whatever I also use it for that. Also, in case whirling dies out I can recharge it right away. I haven't purchased anything special when it comes to runes because I really only wear one set of armor You can easily improve on me by purchasing a wilderness survival mask + superior rune!

I use:
Marksman 10(+1, +3 superior for no reason at all)
Wilderness survival 13 (+1 rune)
Expertise 11 (+1 rune)

Yeah, my skill set up has a couple flaws so please do improve! I haven't bothered to do the desert attribute quest yet as it just takes time and I'm lazy. I'm using my 185/200 skill points and badly placing a marksmanship mask. So learn from my mistakes please, do your quests and buy the appropriate runes.

you can trap the bridge and the keep, barrage mobs, interrupt the spellcasters etc.

for hells precipice i used
conjure flame (or any conjure line)
barrage
distracting
savage
concussion
whirling
winter
troll

daze those ash hulks b4 they get annoying! conjure anything + winter = cold damage + bonus cold damage
