I just got guild wars on a whim the other night. Went to NCSoft (where I already had an account for Lineage2) read up on it, downloaded client - purchased key- loged in and was playing the game in a total of less then 20 minutes! AMAZING! REALLY FREAKIN AMAZING!

I wish they had official forums over at GW because as someone that works in the software field I was and still am truly astounded, I have no idea how they did that so fast and smoothly. Really I purchased installed an was playing this game faster then I could open the 8CD set from EQ2 - really an amazing achievement AREANET, KUDOS!

Anyone else have a similar revelation when they started this game?

Sorry, thread fits in better over here!

Happy your impressed with the game! It really does work out pretty smooth once you get a few system kinks out of the way. =)

I figure the main reason as to why they don't have offical forums is due to the fact that unlike WoW, they don't wish to deal with posts and unless spam that Blizzard has to deal with.

So in the end, it works out much better. Those useless complaining spamming people visit other boards (example, this one), do their thing, and we ban. They can't complain about returning the game or how much ANet sucks because it wasn't them who did it. =)

This keeps them in pretty well everyones good graces. I find its a pretty decent idea and keeps the game strong without problem childern every second post.

If theres one thing I've noticed, its that there is quite a bit of maturity in this game compared to others with more options to deal with those who you don't wish to be bothered with. (Nothing like just changing an area or leaving town.)

I had a slight hang-up with the game not recognizing my retail activation code. It finally worked after I entered it about half-a-dozen times, so I'm not sure exactly what the problem was.

In-game, things have been wonderful. Lag is minimal, updated files download and install in seconds, and it has been a very pleasant experience overall. I'm curious to see how the servers handle the release of lots of new content in the coming weeks.

Wow...that's cool that you had such a great experience. I on the otherhand have had nothing but the worst time getting the game to install on my system. (In other words, I can't install because of some mysterious reason that no one can seem to figure out)

Only problem I have with ANet is the lack of live tech support. Only way to get a hold of someone is through their support email system which is laborsome and still has yet to solve my problem.

I envy you...

Yes--this was one of the easuiest to d/l. I got mine up and running for the BWE--and unlike some other games I have beta'd--I did not have to uninstall anything. I jsut entered in my retail key.

I love the streaming d/l too--I have only a few mins between loadscreens the first time I go to a zone--after that it is only a few seconds.
