Adrenaline aquirement

I am getting conflicting information when it comes to gaining adrenaline. I read somewhere that you earn adrenaline strikes both hitting someone and getting hit. One person posted that on those "Pop-up Helper Screens" in GW says what I just said above. But also people were saying that you only get adrenaline when you hit someone. A guildee of mine said that he tested it and he didn't get adrenaline from getting hit. Is it a bug or the pop-up screen is wrong? Any info to clear this up would be really nice. Thank you in advance.

You gain 1 adrenaline point for a hit with a melee weapon
and you get 1/2 an adrenaline point when you get hit.

You gain adrenaline by attacking & hitting someone as far as I am aware. Its possible to get more adrenaline from being hit but you need to be using the right enchantment!

Balthazar's Spirit doesn't give any adrenaline, don't know if it was a bug though.

Balthazars spirit does work. I put Balthazars on myself, and I put life bond on a monk on my team, and I was gaining insane amounts of adrenaline since the poor monk was getting pounded on. I was getting a good 1-1.5 adrenaline per second at the peak of the combo.

To me being hit would get my adrenaline faster than hitting someone. But my warrior friend says he only got it from hitting someone also. And I would think you would notice 1/2 point being added being hit, considering being hit twice would give you 1 point. Unless its not noticeable.

Again, balthazar's gives no adrenaline. If you don't believe me try using only life bond - you will notice the same effect. I spent 10 minutes testing this.
Balthazar's did not decrease the number of hits I needed to receive for my skills to charge. I did notice an effect relative to the amount of damage however. It took more hits to charge up being hit by a ghoul than tanking a rift warden's maelstrom.
