Markmenships Wager
Saborath Gilgalad
Who uses this skill or likes it.
I've used it in some of my trapper and other builds for energy purposes (both in pve and gvg). But I haven't found a really good use for it. Any insight into this skill, and some of its uses.

In my opinion, it is good to use it with little expertise, not high.
For example:
Beast master. Use full marksmanship and beast mastery, not much left for expertise. Instead of ferocius strike from BM line, get marksman's wager, then you will have 2 direction of damage going on constantly without energy problem (until MW run out, or you get blind).
Another thought would be:
E/Me, thunderclap + arcane mimicry , arcane mimicry the marksman's wager from the beast master earlier. Shocking bow string with marksman's wager. That knockdown chain is going to be deadly (until further hex removal, it is ok, just put thunderclap on their hex control).

Murder In China, this is a good example of how not doing your research can burn you. It actually works on any elite. Just another skill description that isn't right.

In theory, it sounds like a reasonable skill, but should your target have Guardian,Aegis or SoD put on him,or should he adopt an evasive stance,it can quickly become a nightmare.

Marksman's Wager is useful if you want to have almost infinite energy (with high expertise) For exemple: Expertise at 10
Penetrating shot: cost 6 energy with expertise
Marksman Wager: Gives you 8 energy per hit at lvl 10
+2 energy gain
Almost all your bow attacks cost no energy when you set for Marksman Wager but it uses your preparations.

Problem, as Roy stated, is making sure you don't slam a Marksman's Wager shot into a defending target. Do so, and not only are you out the Energy for whatever skill you used, you're out ten more. Not a pleasant experience.
Still, I'd never considered it in combination with Thunderclap. That could get mean in a hurry. Though, with it Mimicked you'd only get five Energy back an arrow, as opposed to losing seven or eight for each knockdown. overall I figure it would be a mid-level trick: nasty as heck if you can get it off, but difficult to implement.
Still, beats the bejesus out of a Gale lock if it works :-P

Even thou I am the one who thought of it, I am not one who is willing to try it any time soon lol. (the thunderclap thing)
If anything, wait for wanderlust, and see how much can be change.
It is possible to be over specialize to be effective, it is probably better off if you have another person just to blood ritual the thunderclapper.
The beast master on the hand, was quite deadly when I was playing with it. The only problem, just like all other beast master, dumb AI, and lack of slots.

Mark'sman Wager + Barrage :O 2 R/Me's in a tim can to this, and should be pretty nice.
Rajamic
Marksman's is a Prep. So no Barrage combo.
I find about the only skills MW works well with are Spinal Shivers and Thunderclap. Anything else and you are wasting your prep and your elite on energy management that could be done better by having 14 Expertise and no skill in particular.

Scutilla
I use it at 9 Expertise on my R/Mo when I'm playing mostly healer (back before I had a monk). Works wonders for the gap between rangers and monks as far as energy goes, esp. with Druid armor and a 20% enchant bow. Even beat LDD monkless with it
Don't use it much nowadays since I have my monk for when my friends need a healer, I lean more towards Ferocious Strike for ranger energy management now.

Banebow
I tend to avoid this skill, the only time my ranger suffers from energy problems are
A) when trapping heavily
and
B) when getting e-denied
In the first case it would be nice if not for spike trap, and in the second it tends to be the monk, not me, who is getting denied (speaking of PvP only here)
*shrug* I much prefer crippling shot, punishing shot, etc.

Elite preperations are so cruel, since they aren't all that great most times. Think about it...how many preps get to take advantage of practiced stance[E]? I've tried to come up with something reasonable to use this Marksmans Wager elite with, but it just doesn't jive well with many builds.
