Wurms in Tombs
Kool Pajamas
I've done a few runs in Tombs and the Wurms will constantly go up and down over and over making it impossible to kill them. When they come up we get knocked down and by the time we get back up they go back under. It goes on forever. This doesnt happen all the time, just some times. Anet says its not a bug.
How do you deal with that? You have to kill them to move to next level right?

tryed to spread out a lil bit so only one person gets knocked down?

Its not that bad poison help and they do not constantly pop up and down over and over. That is unless the recent patches have change ToPK.

Still they dont stay up for long. We get about one shot in and they go under. I have killed them before like this but it took over 10 minutes.
Yes they do pop up over and over sometimes. I dont know if its just certain areas of the place but it does happen.

They go under because whomever the worm is targeting moved. If knuckleheads would stand still, the worm will too, making it a much easier target. Eh? Your monk didn't bring Protective Spirit? Well, too bad... Also, worms now respond to AoE just like other monsters. I've seen it myself. They'll go underground if you try to nuke them, and hide till the spell's over.

Yea ill kil a few of them and you have like one hit each time he go out well if your monk do is job you not supposed to die hehe and if you guys spread up a bite he will atk only one amd knock him down so other ppl can atk the wurms! hehe

What happens is they get stuck under the stairs or some such and clip an edge and then kinda just pound the surface over and over and I'd say it is definately a bug but that A.net missunderstood. Only thing you can do is try to move away from whatever edge it is they are stuck under and hope you can make it there before you die. I know it can do serious damage as well and keep you knocked down with multiple wurms so just be aware of where this happens and try not to lure wurms to those areas...i.e. the stairs area where the first group pop up...try to keep them out in the clearing after you have pulled everything else in and cleared it.

same reason I've noticed it...also why I haven' really bothered reporting the bug, figure A.nets got more important things... *cough*Blood Stained Boots *cough*

Think of it like Tremors, if you move they come after you

I found that if no one on your team moves(as in walking) they will stay above ground, because they are moving to get to the person they used to be attacking.

They do this to teleporters in the desert too.
Best thing to do is to not have people stand on the edge of the ramps and such.
Give the wurms room to pop up and DONT MOVE once it pops up. Whoever is being targeted needs to tank XD

I found out about the holding still part when I tried that area with a trapper team. We failed badly, but I think all of us got a lot of experience out of it.
They're called Graboids. Sheesh, didn't you ever watch number 3 *rolleyes*

Just stay still. The monk will know who to focus his healing on and the warrior (if present) will be given an oppurtunity to aggro the wurm. Your life isnt as important as the entire party's welfare.

I wonder if that was another Anet reference.
You know how they like to throw those in.

Aside from the ramp bug people are talking about, the solution to keeping wurms from ducking in and out of the ground is as follows:
Someone has to be the wurm food (just keep em' alive ).

We noticed this last night. We all stood in place as well as we could but two wurms at once kept popping up and down, up and down, knocking us all on our bums and never once letting me get a simple heal spell off. It finally went down (slowly) when one or another ranger could manage an apply poison, or when a Death Nova minion bomb went off.
The bug I believe, was NOT that the wurms would sit still after a point; the bug was that they wouldn't attack.

Same thing happened to me in one barrage/pet group yesterday ... and contrary to popular belief: the best thing is to not stay still, but to spread out ... the wurm will go after one person, and the rest of you will be able to shoot it a few times before it goes back under. (plus your monk has less to heal for one person as opposed to 8).
It's always a fun time, even with some ragequitters. Last night when this was happening to us:
Party member: "Someone set a thumper!! Lord get that spice outta yer pocket!"
