problem with preorder item? (from Prophecies pre-order)

I wanted to switch my warrior to hammers yesterday and I decided to do /preorder and get my preorder War Pick back. Don't laugh at me too much, I just didn't feel like buying a hammer to try out a new build. I ran around using it, and then when I was contemplating which mod I wanted to add, I noticed it does not have the +20% damage bonus from being customized.

Strange, it says "Customized for <my character name>" in the item's description. Oh well, I'll just go pay 10 gold and customize it and get the damage +20%. I go to the Weapons guy, choose the Customize tab, and he won't let me customize the War Pick because it is already listed as <customized>. So I get a 'bonus item' for pre-ordering the game, and yet it will never do as much damage as another hammer with the same stats because every non-preorder weapon I pick up can be customized and get a 20% damage bonus added. What the hell kind of bonus item is that?

Is it supposed to be like that? Is it a new bug? It would be good to know since there will be 'special pre-order items' i.e. assassin and ritualist weapons, when we pre-order GW:Factions. Hopefully pre-order items aren't gimped on purpose.

The screenshots I've seen of the Factions preorder items all show the +20% damage from customization.



I assume all the GW preorders should be the same. Did it remain this way after logging out and reentering GW?

I haven't pre-ordered Factions yet, the pre-order item that I'm having a problem with was from when I pre-ordered Prophecies last year. I have logged off and on a few times since I did /preorder to get it back, so apparently it's not going to get fixed easily.

It's good to know that so far all the Factions pre-order items aren't gimped with no customization bonus.

I wonder if it's a new bug though? Is your SS from after the updates on Friday?

my warpick has the same stats it came with.

there is no notation of 20% extra damage it just says customized for.......

you have to remember they come pre customized to prevent sales of them so you never saw it without the 20% to see the increase from the customization

also all the Factions items will be precustomized as well if they can be customized

the pre order items will most likely be account tied and not transferable

I apologize Ducktape - I misread your initial post. From the looks of all the original Guild Wars preorder screenshots (not factions) - they all are identical to yours.

I would assume you are getting the 20% extra damage from customization but the only way to verify would be to take a hammer with the same damage stats and compare. Use Wild Blow so you get a critical hit every time and compare the damage to be sure.

Caleb: Hmm, interesting. I'll have to find another hammer and test out the thing with Wild Blow. I'll post back with the '+20% or not' results once I find an equivalent hammer to test with.

I finally got a regular 18-33 hammer to go do the Wild Blow comparison test. I found a max Fiery Summit Hammer of Fortitude to use, and have been getting zillions of gold and purple items in my search for the 18-33 hammer, so I deleted my preorder War Pick yesterday to make room for all the drops that were getting me rich . Anyways, I did /preorder to get it back for the test just now, and this time it said Damage +20% like it was supposed to! Kind of annoying, I deleted and recreated it and logged off and on probably 4 or 5 times with no luck before I originally posted about the missing +20%.

Summary: If your preorder item doesn't say Damage +20%, just keep deleting it and then doing /preorder to get it back until it spawns properly.
