This is the spec for the new Alienware Aurora m7700 I plan on getting. Tell me what you think. I'll make this clear. This is a laptop not a PC.

Well I'd change the HDDs to 7200RPM vs. the 5400RPM. Also I must be one of the few ATI fans that visit here, but I'd go with the XTX1900, if it was my choice and money wasn't an issue.
Best PC component store IMO: NCIX.com - however I am Canadian.
And everyone could drive a Toyota, however some people prefer a BMW if you take my meaning.

I thought only the X2's were dual core o_0..
But I agree wholey, go for 7200rpm HDD if you can, also ATI, especially if your running an AMD.. sure, go for nVidia if your running an Intel (they just seem to all work better that way round)

I'm not sure about the FX57 being Dual core, in fact I'm pretty sure it isn't. The FX60 was introduced to be the ultra high end product for Gamers (FX series core design principle being for Hardcore Gamers), and they've made the jump to dual core. It's only a matter of time before the software catches up, but if there is one thing I don't believe is worth the cash it would be $1,000 processor chips.
However, BMW (German Engineering) FTW! Characters like in The Transporter don't drive Toyota's for a reason. And for some reason all the Terroists in 24 drive nice cars. Meh, I'll get there someday. (err, the nice car part that is)
Addition: I don't hate Toyota, just so ya know. In fact I've got a great respect for the Supra. But that still wouln't hold up next to an M series BMW...

Yeah you're correct Teklord, the FX-57 is only single core and the new FX-60 is dual. I'd love to be able to afford a FX-60 and see how it performs, but for now I'll just stick to my good old Athlon64 3200+ 'Venice' with a slight OC.
Hopefully when the prices drop I'll invest in the FX-60, but at the moment I just couldn't justify spending £500 on a CPU.
As for the Toyota question, I used to have a fairly decent Supra RZ and I'd take that over a Beemer anyday. Well, unless the Beemer turned out to be a new M5 or the '01 M3 GTR that is.

You can't feasibly build a laptop like you can desktop.. I've tried pricing them out... parts are too expensive.. his $3,000 alienware laptop would cost him like $4500 to build it piece by piece.
However.....
Alienwares are overpriced.. they are basically hopped up Clevo computers with fancier cases.
Personally, to play games you don't need RAID unless you laptop is also you company's server.....doubtful.
Go with Pro-Star (www.pro-star.com)or Sager

I'm building my own sometime soon, after a lot of price comparison... Do some more homewrok, but your specs were very very nice for a laptop.
People, READ the post before you comment. Not everyone wants to build their own, some just want to enjoy the game. Let them enjoy theirs, and you enjoy yours. If paths cross, help with respect.
