Old classes created in factions 'playing differently'.

Hi thanks for checking out this thread. Over a few different interviews, some of the A Net team has alluded to the original classes playing differently when created in factions, or maybe I'm misunderstandiung and its that the original classes will just have to play differently in order to succeed.
My apologies for not having the quotes handy, will dig them up later on if no kind soul can find them and post them. I am wondering what this reiterated phrase means. Alluding to the new skills for the classic classes? Maybe a different order to learning your skills at the lower levels? Will some of the new skills for the classic classes only be obtainable in the factions campaign/chapter?

I daresay it would be the new factions skills are only available on Cantha, along with the 'core' skills, so if you only had Factions and made, say, a ranger, whilst it would have similar core skills, you'd both be missing some skills and have some new, very different skills. Thats my best guess anyway Have 'em both and it can play how you like I guess.

Yep, there was a mention in one of the European tour aritcles that a Canthan Necromancer will look and play slightly differently from a Tryrian Necro.

I think this means that there will be unique skills available in Tryia and Cantha for the core professions, i.e. some of the core profession skills will not be available in Cantha and will be replaced by new skills. I've read some discussion about this on another forum, and the speculation was that the core professions in each chapter will have a set of core skills plus some skills unique to that chapter.

My money is that the elites will be different in Cantha while the core skills remain the same.

You have to remeber GW was thier first game so they had a limited time to think on what they were going to do. So now that time has pasted and money has rolled in the creators have had a chance to design skills that will make the necro look and act like the ones they came up with when GW first came out. So I would imagen that the skills types, effects, and attack styles will be slightly different from a Tyrain necromancer. But none the less will be fun and allow you torment the poor dead and curse the liveing for all eternity muwhahwha!!!!!!

I'll bet my money on that one too. I think it would be the most easy and logical way to give the game a lil Twist. Monsters of Tyria and monsters of Cantha both giving different elites to capture. As core it could be understanded as the basic skills, the common ones. The elites could be different giving the chance for an endless number of new builds.

Plus all the ppl that have been ranting and complaining about the 6 slots you get from merging accounts will have access to both elites and could choose from any of them... just letting my imagination fly fellas... thats all.

I'd like that.

I am still curious as to how they are going to handle the characters from prophecies crossing into Cantha is going to work. I am assuming since you can start any of the 8 classes fresh from Factions that they have to begin in an appropriately easy area and progress as we have seen in Prophecies.

What about all those level 20s coming in from prophecies? Maybe the boat from LA doesn't take you to the beginning of the Factions world, or maybe it will be just very easy for a while?

The boat will in all likelihood arrive somewhere equivelent in Cantha. Lion's Arch is at a point where (hopefully) most players are covered on the basics and around level 10-15 or higher.

The LA ferry will NOT take you to Canthan Newbieland.

Does anyone else think there should be a ship running to Amnoon too? Canthans need their ascension too (well, maybe). Or Droknar's Forge? It's a major town too - although I don't think it had seacoast...
