Assassin/ Mesmer a good combo?
Leon_Ux-ixen
It seems the Assassin's combos can deal unbeliveable amounts of damage though their skills take alot of time to recharge and thier energy is drain quick. I'm guessing such a strong class will have a low energy count much like me and other Rangers. So I came up with the idea of crossing the Assassin's high powered attacks and combos and the Mesmer's energy stealing abilities.
I personaly think it will make the Assassin class much more powerful and deadly. Not to meiton it will throw Boss's of thier game and make them as useful as Tanks in PvP. I'd like to hear comments from you the other players of this great game.

IMO, Mesmer is almost always a good secondary. They have hex and enchant removals, Mantra of Resolve, and good defense spells like Distortion and Spirit of Failure (which would be perfect for gaining Energy as an Assassin).
So, yeah, a good choice. I think Rangers will also be a popular secondary, or even Primary with Assassin.
W/A won't have enough en, and I'm not sure A/W need more attacks from Warrior, although the Stances might help.
A/Mo might be popular, but en. management will become a concern.
A/E with Gale? Or defense spells?
A/N with Plague Touch will be popular.
A/Ri will probably be common, too, although I'm not sure it's the best possible combo.
EDIT: I don't think Assassins will ever become a true tank, although it will be interesting to see if they drastically change PvP or not.

My main reason for saying that is simple. Tanks in PvP usually take out one another. The Assassin is going to be quick at running maybe they will be faster then most characters. Plus their deadly combos and my energy steal idea from a distance will kill almost any spellcaster. Monks might be the only concern but then you just beat them senceless. Warriors are powerfull period, but even they can't stand thier ground agaisnt bleeding, poisen, and energy steal which can heal Mesmers very well.
My Necormancer/ Mesmer I have chained his spells pretty well he doeasn't touch the ground till the Charr or Boss is dead. Those two complement one another pretty well. A Necro gains energy with the death of every monster and they can cast blood hexs. Mesmer cast hexs that deal damage to the enemy when they attack or cast spells add Life Shipon and and bone minons/fiends and charrs can't hold thier ground to a level 7.

i played as an a/me during the fpw and i tell you i had a blast, some of the combos in the mes working in conjunction with the assassin dealt some insane dmg. i even did an a/ne and the same thing..either of those to classes combining with each other. will be incredible, not saying that even an a/e or a/r wouldn't do the same thing but that was just my exp.

I figured that just run circles around the enemy while they wait for thier energy to recharge then...BAM I steal it and unleash a flurry of combos. Heres the chain I use for my N/Me. Empthiy, Backfire, Energy Tap, Ether Feast, Life shipon. This is the unstoppable chain if I remeber right due to school I don't really get to play much maybe like 4-5times every 2 motnhs.
My Ranger/Necromancer uses mostly area effects such as, Ignite Arrow, Deathly Swarm, Putrid Explosion, and Wall Of Pain or Blood I think? Then Res Sig, Punishing Shot, and my pet.

Try a frag a/me. Laugh on top of the dead bodies.

If you're worried about energy problems with the Assassin, the best answer by far is the Expertise attribute. Unfortunately, if you take that route, you won't have access to the Assassin Primary attribute and your dagger mastery will never go above 13 (with the use of a +1 Dagger Mastery (20% chance) item).

A/E --> not enough energy for attacks if you use many elemental skills.
A/Mo will suck unless you use smiting. You won't be healing/protecting very well if you pump your primary attributes of the assassin.
A/W only good for tactics, or not using dagger and going with axe/sword for the shield usage.
A/R no idea, seprent's quickness, storm chaser for energy, melandru's resilience???
Mesmer is always good as secondary due to mantras/anti-interrupt/hex&enchant removal/energy.

Personally, I don't expect assasins to have energy problems. Thier primary attribute increases the chance of crit. hits, and gives energy on each one. Plus, they have skills like Black Lotus Strike, Critical Eye, golden lotus strike (or could be golden phoenix attack... they have the same description on the skill pages), Assasin's promise, way of the empty palm, way of the lotus, etc. Looking at things, there are so many assasin skills I want to try, I prob. won't even use my secondary. Though some of the weapon skills from the ritualist line look promising.... like guided weapon that makes it so your attacks can't miss, even if blind. Seems pretty useful to an assasin that banks on hits making their mark to build up combo's if you ask me.

I have a A/Me build that I'm going to put into play almost as soon as I get Factions.
I have to tell you though, me and a guild mate were discussing Assassins as far as PVP goes. And really, they should work like snipers do in real life. In pairs. One should be an attack assassin, the other should be the support assassin. They play off each other and take targets down much faster for the effort.
This will hopefully be the norm with Assassin's in PVP teams, because a well oiled pair could probably run the show.

Thanks for the ideas I'm not sure on my Assassin skill usage but I know they will be combo maybe a teleport just to get out of danger. Far as skills I know i'll use emptiy and backfire just because almost all enemies have a spell of some kinda and I like makeing my enemy pay three fold for attacking. The Assassin will be an energy drainer that much can be seen just like the Ranger with it's shots and other skills. So by useing Energy Tap it backs that up and also takes care of the enemy even if the Assassin does have a nice energy pool. Ether Feast keeps the enemy useing basic attacks while the Assassin heals so you can tell I love messing with the enemy. Assassin/Warrior would be scareing just becuase inleashing a 3skill combo will give you more then enough adrenalin for like 2 or 3 skills. A/Ra will be a great dodger and traps would be very helpful. A/E I'm not sure about never used one but there would be an energy conflict. A/Mo Same not sure only the healing would be useful, A/Ne lots of fun between touchs and body use, I could see myself teleporting to a group where a monster is dead and use petruid explosion them comboing the rest to death.
