For fun, I made a Monk/Necromancer and tried to ascend at a low level. To avoid the missions, I walked from Ascalon to Sanctum Cay with my friend who also made a monk from scratch and some henchmen. When we reached the desert, I joined some pick up groups and did the ascention missions. I finally beat my mirror at level 11.
So, has anyone else tried this? I heard that a guild helped a member ascend at level 3, but I have my doubts about that...
So, what's the lowest level you've ascended

Azunder, I just read the same thing, and someone said it was possible. They said it was posted on guild-hall.net forums. Go take a look.
Midnight Scorpion
my guild leader had it done at that level

misconception about the mission thing, you don't have to do most of the missions, you can bypass them through explorable areas.
And yes, you can easily sit back even during the missions out of harm's way, too far to receive exp from kills done by your team, and failing to do the bonus, for only 1k exp per mission you've done. Probably only the searing and 3 ascension missions are actually mandatory.
It's beating the mirror image that has me baffled.
I'd imagine they picked a class with the right skills to get the mirror image to either do next to nothing, or nearly kill itself, because I can't see a lvl 3 char beating it through conventional means.

It -IS- possible, but highly improbable, most mission you can simply walk around through the wilderness if you know the path, so the 1000 exp rewards wont level you up. if you sit at the entrace to a map once your team mates get so far ahead of you, you stop gaining exp from their kills. level 3 or 4 would be the lowest possible due to the exp you HAVE to get (sanctum cay and the 3 ascension quests) i believe all the others are skipable by walking, but i could be wrong.
*edit* mercury, your too fast for me i forgot about the searing, and you forgot sanctum cay.. unless there is another way to cross the ocean to the desert?

I wasn't trying to hit ascention at the lowest level possible, just as quickly as possible, and I ascended my second character at level 14. As far as I can see, the only part that would require some thinking would be beating your mirror but we've all seen how easy that is to exploit.

Yes, a person has ascended at level 3. Iirc, it was one of the Negative Zero members, and it was with guild help(rushing through the game to make it quick and easy to unlock skills). Basically, you can just have some level 20 characters sprint through the game to unlock the different outposts and get further. It just takes a few hours of sprinting with characters that know what they are doing to unlock all the different outposts, then rush through the Sanctum Cay and desert missions- you're level 1-3 character shouldn't be up near the combat(instant-kill), so you won't be getting exp other than quest rewards in most cases. If you've got certain character classes, it can be pretty easy to kill your mirror(I believe the person in question was a mesmer who used empathy and attack dodging, and a few attempts before managing to do it successfully).
The main benefit would be that you could get a character to level 20 in far less than a day, and then have an easy time going back through for the skill quests and trainers that you missed. You could potentially unlock the skills you want for a character class in a few days rather than a few weeks.

Empathy, Backfire, Chaos Storm. Never physically attack and get behind the wall.
