Should fame/rank be binded to characters or to your account?

I voted account fame. I really think that good players are simply good players. I've never met someone who was absolutely kickass with one class and totally sucked with another. (at least not for very long) Regardless of whether character fame sticks around (i would leave it) i very much want to have account based fame, especially in light of how we'll be recreating characters often to suit our pvp needs.

I'd also like to see that account fame used to unlock things such as skills/runes/bonuses for your account.

I voted for character fame. It is important for people to know which characters have been doing Tombs successfully. Fame ends up being a measure of how many bouts you've won. Account fame could be misleading because one person might be good at playing a Necro/Warrior in Tombs for example, but just because they've build a PvP Elementalist/Mesmer just for kicks doesn't mean they know how to play that character. I'd rather see the fame they've built up with that character. If they showed a ratio such as Char Fame/Account Fame that would allow people to see how much this person has played in Tombs and how much with that one character.

On the other hand, if a person has played with a bad team, which just happens to be his/her friends, then Fame might not mean that much. It could be a way to NOT pick someone on a pickup team in Tombs.

I voted character. It is the character who gains his own fame and this is the best indicator of that character's ability.

Perhaps account 'fame' could be called something else.. 'Prestige' , 'Kudos' or 'Renown' all mean more or less the same thing. And account fame should be a different thing I feel .. it represents a different quality of fame to that gained by a single character. There should be a distinction between them.

One more important thing: currently fame is the only PLAYER PvP reward in Tombs. So, player shouldn't lose his reward just because he recreated a character. As i already said, at the very least PvP characters should have account-based fame. PvE chars may have a personal fame as it is now.

If a person has played with a bad team, then he will have a low skill. You can't be a skilled player if you play with or against bad players.
Of course, it will be a way to not pick someone. I already saw it during BWE.

Would be nice to track both account and character fame.
A character could have a rank stick in each hand, one for personal fame and one for account fame (account fame could be considered having a famous lineage).
This would have the additional benefit of allowing one to see if someone is playing their main character (ie the two sticks were about the same sise).

i did not take the time to read threw all those post, because ussually they are mostly the same but heres my oppinion

account- this would make sense because since this is a game of skill it still is your char. making it tothe hall of herosbut it is you who is guiding and telling that char what to do. they system right now is like a basketball team, the coach is telling them what to do, and teaching them how to do it for hours nd hours day upon day but yet when his team wins the tournament, it is the players how get most of the fame and the coach doesnt get as well known. but the way i think it shouldbe is, if you makeit to the hall of heros and hold it, and get your ranking stick, it is normal. but when you get on your other acount and get on your new char, he will have a ranking stick but it will be a diffrent one, one that shows he has made it to the hall of heros, but just not with the charector that hes on with now. i think this would be very cool

charector- i could also understand this part of the story, because the lvl one char did not make it to the hall of heros, and if you see him carring around a ranking stick your gonna think "wtf...howd he get to the HoH" and the noob char will get many invites to partys other people could have. and the char you got to the HoH you have worked on to get the skills and everything so the other charector shouldnt get credit for it.

well these are my thoughts, and sorry for any spelling mistakes im in a hurry
