What is this new little triangle in the top right corner of some skills?

I haven't played the game in a long while and when I loaded it up last night there was this new stuff. First the introscreen is better, etc. etc. Most aesthetic stuff.... plus I feel the casters have been greatly improved.

What I found most intriguing though were these little triangles in the corner of some skills. I tried to figure out what they meant and how to use them, but I failed... it's just easier to ask you guys.

Thanks!

aha, thanks. I was going crazy thinking they were a drop down menu or something... if I had been more observant I would have noticed that some are pointed upwards and others downwards.... who didn't notice which was which though? I'm glad casters got a buff. My friend with whom I play will be particularly happy since he loves casters. The decrease in casting times is what I noticed most... particularly with elementalists.

hmmm... that does sound good. Particularly sounds good for my newest character, which is an E/R. I'm eventually going to focus on fire, earth, mana storage and beast mastery or wilderness survival... on the ranger set it's hard to decide. An evoker with a good familiar doing combat damage seems like a good combo, but wilderness survival has so many good skills associated with it. We shall see...

so my new Necro/Mez character is casting spells faster then before?

When did this happen? I just made him about 2 weeks ago, but I only play him every other time I play. Just got him to lv 11 and at Surmia.

hmmm.... I should drop an element, huh? I typically try to keep it down to three attributes. It's hard though.
