First I want to say I know similar topics have been posted before, I am the first to admit. I tried the search button with no avail. I also checked a few armor topics and I could not find quite the answer I am looking for.

When taking hits, what is better? +5 armor or recieving 1 less damage? I ask because I am buying plate mail for ele type mobs. I already have glads armor plus an ascalon helm. I never played warrior much at the time - So I just did it, because I heard a rumour that you only need one piece of damage reducing armor to get the effect.

I.e should I go full plate or all plate bar the helm - in place of a damage reducing helm?

The only part of the armor hit by spell would be your chestpiece. I would use an ascalon helm for the damage reduction and everything else preference.

Go full plate bar the boots. Use the help as a change piece always. This is the piece you choose based on the bonus to attrib of choice. Do not ever make your helm a main piece to your build IMO.

I'd go for the helm that gives a boost for my favorite skillset. The rumor is correct. Most people choose... knights boots, I think, for the damage reduction.
