I don't want to fight in groups just yet, until I know the game a bit better(W1). However, I don't like to leave quests unfinished so I wanted to do "Adventure with an Ally"(one of the first quests, all you have to do is talk to quest giver in a party).

So, I asked around in Ascalon city if anyone wanted to do this quest and this quest alone. Someone responded, we joined up and I completed the quest and left the party.

At that point I was called an idiot. When I tried to explain I was called a noob and told to go brain shop. Did I really do something wrong, or is this person staying on my ignore list?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Agreed, most people do this.

Its not that big of a deal, but you could have said that you were only doing that quest, or that you were leaving before you did.

Its not a big deal though, groups aren't too hard to get at the start.

It's certainly polite to make your intentions clear and give fair warning. But if you did that and he still hassled you, he's the idiot.

Ingore the idiot. However, let me add the obvious - when you leave pre-searing and start on the long road to your acension you may want to be a little more forthcoming with your groups. Getting a party together or joining as existing one is hard enough. If you split in the middle, or leave after you accomplish a personal goal (like reaching a level) it can come back to bite you.

I personally hate it when someone leaves us hanging just as we reach the second zone in Lornars Pass.

Just my 2 bits.

I have never been called a noob by any player with even a modest amount of skill. I find that the use of that particular phraseology tends to reflect more on the speaker than the intended recipient.

You told him why you wanted to grouped, and you did as you said you would. Sounds like the other guy really ought to be listening better...

i may HAVE to leave at any time so i use henchmen all the time.

consider this for a moment

if it was a long mission and the group was trying to complete it while you were there only for an elite skill or a bonus objective and left them hanging with a short party after an hours worth of work when you got yours they would want to do more than ignore you

Learn this well, my friend. IF you do not speak up and let your intentions known BEFORE you move out of town, you wil have a hard time getting into too many groups in the future, and the tells you get will be less than friendly. And trust me, it's much easier to complete any task with humans rather then "sticky" henchmen.

The other day, I was asking for a group to finish a bonus on a mission I had already completed. I stated, "LFG for bonus mission here. I will stay and complete mission IF we complete bonus". Well, I got into a group (and they agreed to my statement, which I repeated in team) and we ended up blowing the bonus part. The leader said, "no big deal, let's just finish the mission." I told him that my deal still stands (scroll up please and re-read it), we failed, apologized, and left for another group (which we ended up finishing the bonus and mission).

The team I left did not have anything bad to say, as I expected, and one person even left with me, since my intentions were known BEFORE we left.

Luck on your journies.

The only REALLY annoying scenario, when leaving a party, is to do so after dying, without saying anything.

Death can happen. Sometimes it can happen as the result of one player's mistake. But it's not that big of a deal. The death penalty, off of ONE death, can be worked-off quickly enough... and being at -13% isn't too terrible. Odds are you'll have fought a handful of bosses by then anyway, so you won't even be THAT low!

If one guy on a team is causing deaths over and over, then I can understand quitting the team. But to die, say nothing to your team, and log off... MAN that's annoying!

I agree that it is really infuriating to have someone drop out without prior knowledge - however the other day I was in a group doing really well, almost completed the mission and ...........
my connection went down!!!
I'm sure my fellow group members were spitting blood, I was too - and with no way to explain or apologise.
Please remember that dropping out may not always be deliberate.

If I ever see the group leader again I hope she'll give me chance to apologise.
