How do I get a 24 hour headstart?
BlahGMan
I was just wondering how we are supposed to get a 24 hour headstart on the game. Does it download to you computer and let you play it without the game disk, or do you need it to play it? And then wouldnt it be available for everyone? I already asked Anet and they told me to look on the website, which I already have done and not found anything.
Could anyone help me out on this?

That is a very good question, it could be that people that got the pre-order get the game earlyer then other people. But i have no idea really.

Kinda wondering this myself, since the pre-order pack was messed up form some store for the last two weeks, Best Buy having them out first and other stores possibility next week. Where’s the CD-key going to be at that lets you get the head start is it in the pre-order pack or the full version of the game which will be released April 28th since that’s the other half of the pre-order pack.
Reason I am confused about this is because there’s been a lot of posts and it’s ranged all over the place.

teh game probably goes on sale a day or 2 early and then if you had the pre order key too, you get to laucnh the game early, and i not the game wont work till the official start day
Kakumei
The preorder package I bought from Best Buy informs me I will have access to the game 24 hours before it officially goes 'live'. No disks are necessarily involved, because you pretty much already have most of Factions on your computer as-is--the rest will be downloaded between now and release.

gamestop is full of it, you get to play the factions event even if you dont buy or preorder factions.
Never listen to gamestop. Ever since they had the sale "buy a dreamcast and get a modem free" there is no way to trust them

I've been curious about this myself, I have the pre-order key on my account
Say you get pre-order kit, have it on your account, still waiting on Factions (SE/CE) to ship to your house and it arrives on the say of the street date.
Bigest question - do you have to have the retail factions key on the account 24 hours before and if so, are pre-order able to be picked up before the street date.

at this moment already alot of content of factions is downloading on your PC, you just need to apply the pre-order CD-key to your account and you can play factions 24 hours before release.
ppl who don't have prophecies can download the game client and will also have a headstart

something still doesn't make sense...I preordered factions from best buy today. To get the pre order box, i just had to pay 10 bucks! so for the 'play 24 hours before release' event, will it make a difference that i havent actually bought the game yet?

So it’s left to wondering if where I ordered it gets in before the 28th.If it’s anything like now where I am waiting to get the pre-order pack itself, guess I’ll sol.
Nevin
I ordered my copy online.. They say they ship out the game the 27th, does that mean I only get to play the 24 hours with my bonus key then have to wait for the game to ship to me to continue?
Mister_Smiley
the game most likey will get to the people that pre-orders earlyer then it would hit the selfs. i beleive that the game is due to ship the 25th, which means you most likey will get it the 27th. But this is just what i think, so well have to wait and see.

if it goes down like prophecies it will be in stores a day or 2 before release, and you could not play early if you did not have the retail key and pre order key. |
i hope it's on shelves before the 28th

My pre-order box from Best Buy actually has a CD in it. I didn't pay much attention to what it does since I still have a while before the 27th, but I'd be surprised if I have to have the full retail version in order to play 24 hours in advance of normal release.
It also has a key for a friend to jump on as well.
But, if that's how it was w/ Prophecies, it may well be the same for Factions.

Well, I've had Factions pre-ordered since 16th January and I've still to recieve any pre-order key. Now the company I pre-ordered with say they know nothing about such a thing!

I pre-oredered from gamestop and I have called to verify that I put down the deposit for the pre-order KIT. They said they have been shipped out their store should be getting about 8 of them soon and that they would call me when they come in. The thing is, I dont really like the word "soon" and "8" used in this kind of situation. The guy didnt even remember who I was when I was in there a day before talking to him for like an hour about the game so what makes me think he will remember to call me when the pack comes in?? Someone here said the 12th? Do you think that would be the same date for Ohio? I have been calling in every day to check if they have.
As for the 24 hour head start thing, im pretty sure once you add the pre-order key to your account, that itself will grant you access to the game 24 hours before the servers open to those who baught the game normally. Its just like with the first version of GW, I didnt use the CD's for the second time I installed it (after new hard drive) I just downloaded the client online and when you run that it installs all the stuff needed to the play the game. I think it will be the same for factions except you are actually downloading bits and pieces right now when you play the game and will probably download the rest when you go to play it either 24 hours before or when the servers go live for everyone else.
