Should i eve bother trying to sell purple items?

I am new and i've been running around opening chests for purple items. I am fairly sure i'm just wasting my time, however i'd like to know which purple items could possible sell, and which item mods are keepers for blues and purples.

Fellblades, summit axes, Mursaat horns, Flesh horns, Crysteline swords, Tribal axes, Sephis axes.

Those usually are fairly easy to sell.

If you're opening chests with the intent of finding and selling purple items, I would say you're wasting your time, yes. Purple items sadly never sell well to learned players, with the exception of a few rare items such as what Retribution posted. So I would suggest looking for areas in which high level gold items drop if you're intending on profiting from "chest runs."

(Hint Hint: think Shiverpeak keys, Darkstone keys, Obsidian/Phantom keys.)

for the most part chests are a gold sink and you usually are lucky to get half value back

if you are getting purples i assume you are in an early part of the game still?

Why are those purples worth something?

Rare skins, nothing more.

"skins" means the shape/type of the item. Crystaline swords are EXTRMELY rare, and thus, valuable, even if they are only purple.

So people will buy them even if they don't have good mods? :/
