Is it just me or have any of you noticed that there has been a large spike in the 55 monk profession (not just on the forum's but also ingame)? Does this mean that more people are curious about 55 monks? *confused* I would think there would be substantially less 55 monks after the griffon nerf.

More like, the players who were using W/Mo to farm griffons now have to switch builds, and are going towards UW or something similar, where the 55 monk is superior.

Why would people drop their 55 monks if Anet nerfed one of their 25+ possible hunting grounds?

because griffons at augury is the "official newb 55 training grounds" aka easy money and because there are a ton of idiots out there that go "omg f--- you ANet. Im glad you like to piss people off" then quit guildwars and buy WoW or EverQuest 2 (which i find ironic).

The irony is I NEVER farmed that dump (augry) with my 55 monk. Total waste of time IMO. After a few runs the drops suck and it was so repetitive. Sure it was sort of quick money, but big deal. Selling wings and salvaging materials to spam at Drokners isn't my idea of fun. The thing is it is still easilly farmable with a 2 man set up. But that would "defeat" the purpose of farming to some I guess. It is also farmable sole with the right build/class, but takes a lot longer, and you will die here or there sometimes, so the ease isn't there, so people go someplace else.

There are 5-6 HUGE maps that a 55 monk can solo the whole thing. Might take longer than blindly zoning and rezoning, but the drops are much better, and it isn't as boring.

Basically Augry was the bot play ground, I am glad they nerfed it. The other areas involve a little more than running a program, but are still very easy with even a cookie cutter build, and with some tweaks and practice they are pretty fast also.

Most people who left augury have moved to troll farming at droknar, and very few have changed ot uw. The griffon run was easy and fast, so why would they bother learning or dueling UW, when they can farm the trolls just as easily.

I'm a bit outdated, since I haven't really played in a while, but didn't they screw the 55 build up by reducing your energy thoroughput?

Maybe you're thinking of the "original" 55 build that used Protective Bond - that's rarely used anymore since they upped the energy cost per hit. The current version uses Protective Spirit instead.

There are plenty of places for anyone to solo farm let alone 55 monk. I find a Sup Absorption rune yesterday at a place most ppl don't farm. Just gotta use your imagination.

The best warrior farming place/hobby horse is still out there. It raises like 100k (at least) in like 6 hours. So you can take like 25k/hour, not cosidering the fact that you might get luvky and make 150-400k by getting a drop. I never understood all the whammo rush in augury.

To quote Tommy Lee Jones in 'Men In Black;'

'A person is smart. People are dumb, dangerous, panicky, animals and you know it.'

I think that would answer that question quite well, because it's true

well i made my 55 monk totally out of courosity. i would Fow with my warrior and id see 55 monks pairing with ss's and i was like....thats totally a way to make money.some peopel might have made one to go with the crowd...becsaue there friends have one...or becasue they are compltley bored. i guess it dependes but i think just becasue they nerfed 1 spot out of many farming places for 55 monk doesnt mean there would be a dcline in 55 monks

I created my 55 monk simply for something to do other than running sf and fow (pre-nerf) as a book/gear tank healer/bonder. Since there's still a lot of talk about the 55-ers, as well as an increase in demand for power-levelers (just my opinion here), I can see why there are still people creating more 55 monks.
