Endangered species quest

So I was playing my lvl 11 ranger the other day and I have this endangered species quest, that is ranger only for ranger skills. Now it seems to me that any dolt would have done this pre-searing already to get the stalker, but now we get to do the same quest again. Here is my problem I ditched my stalker eons ago. I use a lvl 10 wolf. I dont think I am willing to dump my wolf that is already lvl ten to get a stalker to dump the stalker to get the snow wolf to relevel up that snow wolf only to effectively get the skill hunter's shot.

So here are my concerns:

Is there a level cap on pets (lvl 20)? because then dumping the wolf might not be so bad

Is there a quest that is generated by completing this quest? Because I know sometimes there are "lines" of quests where you do one to get another. If there isn't then abandoning this quest will only lose me hunters shot which I think I can live without.

Pets cap at Lv20 just like players. It is entirely possible that the quest leads to more quests, especially if it is in Old Ascalon, but past that is probably does not.

This quest goes nowhere. It does not (to my knowlege) lead to anything else. I too had a dilemma about ditching my Melandru's stalker. So i just got to the point where I was sick of my pet (teardrop) and so I was like what the heck i'll give it up since later i can grab a linx or something. Well I went to Nente with my Stalker and he gave me the XP for the Stalker but did NOT take him! I kept the pet, and I got the XP and the Two skills for Ranger. WTF? I was like Who cares? So i've still got my Stalker, but when i see the Lynx i might go for it. I was tempted to pick up the snow wolf, but havn't yet.
