#1 has 128 MB of RAM, #2 has 256 MB of RAM.
#1 has a 1000 MHz memory clock, #2 has a 900 MHz memory clock.

Other than that, according to those sites they're pretty much the same (I think). I'd go with #2 myself, but others may have a different opinion.

Put a few bucks more with it and get a 6800 GS. Almost as fast as the fabled ultras, and a lot cheaper. Also 256-bit memory interface, so it can actually USE that 256 of memory.

Nvidia doesn't make AGP cards anymore, so you'd have to look for a returned one on newegg, or ebay... which isn't very safe.

PCI-E has been out near two years, and people refuse to upgrade. That's their fault.

It's cost prohibitive to upgrade to PCI-E for some people. At least for me it is. My processor is an Intel 3.2ghz Northwood, which is still pretty darn good by today's standards. In order for me to upgrade to PCI-E, I'd have to replace my Motherboard AND processor(since no MB's for sale today offers PCI-E and Northwood support) AND the video card.

It's obvious there's still a market for AGP. If there wasn't, NVidia wouldn't have bothered releasing the 7800GS.

To the original poster, if you want the best(and probably last) AGP card, go with the 7800GS. They can be had for about $300. I have the BFG version and it is highly overclockable(stock is 400/130 for BFG and I'm running it at 480/1400 without a hitch).

You'll find little difference between AGP 4/8.

Try looking at some place like www.tomshardware.com they have comparisons in real terms (fps) between various games and benchmarks. In short: you don't really need the very latest stuff.

Uh no, and the less people that run like lemmings to upgrade to the latest 6 monthly wonders the better imho.

My "old" 3Ghz p4 with ATI radeon x800 (formerly ATI 9800) AGP runs virtually all games just fine and will do for some time to come. Just look at the state of nvidia/ati these days... new overblown cards every few months that cost so much you could buy a complete new system for the price of one card... it's precisely because people run to burn holes in their wallets we have this mess to begin with (and game companies having nothing more to offer than fancy eyecandy that passes for "games")
