hmm where did you get that? im pretty sure thats a really early image, heck it only cost 10 gold. looks like a beta pick to me.
and looking at the background, that looks like a snowy area, and if you look at Cantha, there are no snowy areas. the world map is entirly green.

It would also go against what they want to do with the game, they dont want grinding, and once level restirctions are added, then people have a need to go xp.

not sure about others but there is a req of 13 strength on the new "sentinel" warrior armor.100 armor -20(if lower than 13 strength).
Bane of Mortality
I'm almost positive that in the original Beta armor did have level reqs. THat shot is certainly old enough to be from back then too.

At the PvP creation screen now you can see the new types of armor, and I'm sure there accurate to even a detail like that. However, there may be no need to show it on PvP armor seeing as you start lvl 20.
It's an interesting point, but I suspect it's just a Beta Pic

Actually, I found out via the Lion's Arch Boat Crew (Guild tag: [boat]) that beginning in Ch2, all armors will have level requirements. For example, Crystal Desert-level armor will require characters be L17, minimum. Two of the Boat Crew attended the Backstage Pass event, where they got this info, and they are reliable sources.

Also, if you look at the other screenshots, there are some Cantha-esque pics with date '01/01/2004'. |
If the guys at the backstage pass event say that the armor requires a minimum level now, I believe them.
Guess we will know in 2 weeks or so at the preview!

and if its "begining" in chapter 2, that means ch1 will have no changes anyways. which would be the only way to do it. they cant suddenly put reqs on armor that people are wearing already.

Nobody said it came from a crafter in the desert, only that Collectors give max armor.

Really? My bad. It has been so long since my first char played through to the Oasis, the rest of my chars just pass through on their way to Augury only stopping to pick up the quests.
But it is still the fact nobody said the armor came from a crafter and max armor is available in the desert.

I wan't to believe this. Would really be nice to end the rushed players with Droknars armor playing in the Ascalon arena.

Well, it all looks like more speculation, eh?
It would be interesting to have level req armor.

well i think level req armor would be good. it would prevent people from being able to run through the game and get the best armor then go back and play. which takes all the fun out of it. and lets face it....Anet doesnt want people running through a game they busted their butts on. we all know that. so them adding lvl req armor would in my opinion be a good thing.

Could also just base types of armor towards your attributes. Similar in form to weapons. Once your weapon skill reaches 12, it gives 100%.
So, for armor, you could do the same thing:
Using ele for example: Desert onward has a req of 12 in x attribute.
Droks pyromancer (or whatever type you prefer) has a fire magic req 12. Having less than the 12 gives you less a % in armor, thus making it less effective to have before you have the req skills. Could still wear it, but makes it less useful to rush and get it.
This would also mean having armor that you meet the req for, would be more effective than Desert or Droks untill you meet the req for it.
Just a thought.

This is of course different than say, being run through Sanctum Cay or Elona Reach, but making the armor have level requirements is a step backwards, in my opinion.
As for being run taking all the fun out of it, I can assure you playing through the exact same missions and quests 7 times is NOT fun. At all.
Loviatar
are you people aware that Gaile stated those were developers shots and req may not be in the retail game????

That is not an old screenshot as far as I can see.
Although the ddate is 2004 but the interfaceis the current one.
If you look at old screenshots the interface used to look different.
