Hi all. I'm sure you've heard this question many times, "What are the skills for an Active Prot monk?", and while I'm sure most will want to answer, "Well if you don't know how it works it's not worth doing it", as I've seen on several posts asking the same question. My response to this is, how are we supposed to learn if we're never given the chance =P Well I'm not getting at anyone, I would REALLY appreciate an answer. I have lots of experience at doing protection in HA, using Mo/Me with rof, guardian, prot spirit, mend condition (since mend ailment was nerfed), remove hex (since veil was nerfed), mantra of recall, divine boon, rez sig or signet of devotion (although im still confused why so may people use signet of devotion... in my opinion, even though it heals for no energy cost, it's useless, but this post isn't about this skill). So I recently ascended my PvE monk and wanted to give Active Prot a try. I know it's mainly Mo/R with the prots, aegis and serpent's quickness, but I'm confused - how do active prots maintain their energy, and do they bond and use blessed signet? I'm confused on this point. As I said I HAVE searched and found nothing, please forgive me if I'm wrong and there's a post on this at the top of the search list =)

active prots do not maintain enchantements, that's passive prots.
I've only known active prots to be Mo/Me, and i think Mo/R is the worst possible combination, but who knows...
from what i know, you get 2/3 energy management skills (inspire hex, drain enchantement, energy tap...), and the rest are protection skills built to stop spikes and warrior heavy builds. skills like:
- aegis
- reversal of fortune
- protective spirit
- shielding hands
- guardian
- restore conditions / martyr
a build like that is pretty normal i should think...

Mortalis has it about right, just stick in Channeling and you're set.
