Black Dye Drop Locations?

I've been playing GW for 2 months and only ever received 2 black dye drops (both near ice caves). My questions is, is there particular spots that have better odds of black dye drops? or is it completely random?

No, everything's random. Just keep plugging along....

i got 1 after 19 minutes in presear and most of them in lower (pre kryta) areas
21 so far

pre-sear is *rumored* to be a good drop spot for black dye, i think its because it has the same number of drops but a smaller area to cover, so it drops more frequently.

At least you got 2 of them. My first character got a black dye drop in pre-searing and that was over 4 months ago. A few characters later and countless hours of gameplay later I am yet to pickup a second black dye drop. Like the other guy said...just keep plugging away because that's all you can do.

Thanks, I figured as much, but just seemed odd that both drops were in same location.

the reason presear gets more dyes according to rumor is that purple/gold drops get dyes instead.

several people have gotten double dye drops as well. my best were

black/silver
silver/silver
blue/red

and not a double drop more in 6 months

I got my first black dye drop SEVEN months & about 800 hours into the game! I've had 7 or 8 since then, so frequency per player is random, too.

A RL friend of mine who just started playing a few weeks ago got one pre searing in his first week. But i think its better to get one when you're experienced, as he sold his to the merchant for a gargantuan 1g.

In almost a thousand hours, I have never recieved a black dye drop.

What the hell...I've never seen a black dye drop before, and I'm up to the ring of fire...>_<

Locations of mine/seen
1 on Runes of Sumira
1 on Fort Ranik Mission
2 on Riverside Mission
1 outside of Yaks Bend
1 at trolls outside of droks (in cave)
1 at underworld (start off)
1 in presear (off rock ele, before ice place)
Hmm I forgot others, but I'v gotten 4 drops myself
