I have my pre-order box...now what?
Canadian Bacon
I have the key code for the March 24 (<<<I think) event, but how do I use it?
Age
If you have chapter 1 which I think you do you don't need the preorder just 1 open slot from your existing account. This is if you want to create a Assasssin or Ritualist other than that if your charactors are ascended than you don't have to delete.

If you don't have chapter 1, you just download the client from official website and begin streaming content to your computer and use the pre-order key to create an account.

So I have to delete a character?

I have the pre-order too. How will my account know I have gotten the pre-order in order to get the pre-order items? Do I download the client off the disk?

For starters:
Is it the "pre-order" code from the pre-order box for the special items, wich you link to your exsistng account by using "Manage my accounts?"
Is it the freinds free preview account, that you got from your friend when he pre-ordered the game, that allows you to play for 14 days or 10 hours free if you have downloaded the game client, and now just have to activate with the code number and an e-mail address?
Is it the free weekend code that was e-mailed to you, that you also have to have downloaded the client and your e-mail address?
If you have an exsisting acccount, all you need for the free weekend is a free slot. If you don't have a free slot you can send your self an invite, but once the weekend is over you wont be able to play the chartacter untill you add a full retail key.

OK, thanks for all this info. Now, let me make sure I have all this straight:
1) Add my pre-order key to my existing account
2) E-mail myself an invite for the event (but I will not be able to use this character ever again after that)
Is that what I need to do?

Thank you all for the help!
Got another question. My 4 slots are full and not really wanting to delete someone. So when I had the pre order disk in I went to "install client". When I did this it wanted to write over my my existing GW files. I am I wrong in thinking that it will write over them or will it just add the content into that folder. I don't want to fug something up and loose my existing account.
What I want to do is this- get the client to play the preview weekend on a seperate account. When the Factions releases I would like to be able to link the accounts. Is there a way to do it and how do I do it without ruining my existing account. Im kind of a tech illiterate.
Thanks

Since you don't want to delete any characters you can only make an account for the preview weekend, but that's ok nothing you do on that weekend will matter anyway, at the end off the weekend the character invetory will be wiped clean, only the pvp unlocks will remain. Just don't use a name you really like, because you can't add the preview account to your exsisting account.
Basically you have 2 options, delete a character for a permenant Factions character, which you will have to start over anyway, or use a free account and kiss the character goodbye at the end of the weekend.
Good thing I did not like being a monk.

So I just login, go to create account, and type in the "friend" code I got in the preorder?
Not worried about the weekend character going poof.

Think of it like this, if it makes it easier:
The preorder key gives whatever account you place it on access to the /preorder command (which generates the 2 unique weapons)
The "buddy" key is, as it's name implies, for you to give to a friend, relative, homeless guy on the street, whoever ...
The preview key is ONLY used to create a new account (as if you already have a Ch. 1 account, you automatically have preview access). If you didn't have ch 1 (or didn't want to delete a character, in your case) then you simply use this key to make a "new" account using a different email address.
Hell, have some fun with them, make your name and address something funny
Name: Brechnar Ironhammer
Address: 1 Ironforge circle, Southern shiverpeaks, KS
Email: [email protected]
Maybe it will give someone at anet a laugh, and you don't want them confusing your two accounts (for support) when you call if you use your regular name/email/etc.
