Future of running?
Sents
Just a curious question/idea I've been thinking about since the update.
I think with the way the skills being made available in Ascalon(any skill you have previously unlocked can now be purchased in Ascalon, except Elites). Now to me this will lessen the need for experienced players to run characters thru, of course you will still need to get to ascencion but being able to buy the skills you desire(given a few skill points of course) early on, I think,..I hope will encourage more players to simply do the missions with a suitable build. This has 2 possible benifits(there may be more of course), 1-runners are less 'popular', 2-new players stand the chance of being able to learn from the experienced players(again, hopefully). This is pure conjecture of course, would appreciate any one elses take on the new system. Myself I love it, takes a lot of pain out of making a new toon, as long as you have one charcter thru to ember light you can get all the skills, be expensive as hell, and there aint gonna be many people that have mass piles of skill points anymore(I suppose on established Toons but..). Thoughts , guffaws, flames ??

Well, people run to Droknar's simply for the armor itself. Also, there are a few elites down around there that are pretty accesible. Plus, people will still need to visit trainers before they reach Ember Light if they want specific skills before then, if they haven't unlocked skills through faction, or have not played a specific character class. But anyways, I think the main point of running is to get the highest AL armor in the game at a low stage, rather than purchase skills.

Also, in the pictures from the Seattle event, it looks like armor will have level requirements.

Or, ok, say they have a lvl 17 req. for drok's armor, you'll see some people in places like The Wilds or Amnoon Oasis spamming:
"Running to droks, 3k ... go back to beacons dist 2 and meet me there!"
Sekkira
No, you'll get people being run to droks, then powerlevelled so they can get the armour.

Well I realise people are still going to 'want; the Droks armor, sad thing too, seens as you really do not need it anywhere before the ring of fire. Sure it makes life a bit easier, but it is not required.
I guess where Im thinking is more like there being less of a need for people to get to the skill trainers they used to have too get to, once they have a charater ascended, if people cant figure out that you can unlock all skills with essentially one character, too bad for them.
I wish they would put a level requirement on Droks, would be the final nail in the coffin for running I think. Running ruins the game for the first or second time thru player, in the sense that they are missing out on key game experience and nothing, read absolutley nothing can take the place of sheer game time played. If people want to get their 3rd or 4th toon run thru to Droks and power levelled, more power to them, its their game, I just want to see Anet do all they can to remove running as being a way to play the game, as it is seen that way by many now, so anything they do to lessen the runners curse is good for the game overall in my books. I want good players to play with, not players that get run thru the game and have no clue, Im sure most everyone feels the same, or at least I hope most do. Thanks for comments.

I don't like this personally. After you have done every quest and mission on 1 character I really don't want to do it again 3 more times. They added the drok run for a reason. It was not there when the game first started. It gave players a short cut to the end of the game to speed up unlocks. Seems kind of counter productive to take it away.
They do not need to add a lvl req to armor. All they need to do is add an armor req for the arenas. That is the only reason it is being added (if it is). If you are wearing any armor over 30 you can't go in the ascalon arena. So forth and so on problem is fixed without screwing people that want to run to get the best armor.

The armor requirement is odd to me. I can understand the reasoning behind it, but I don't think it'll accomplish anyhting other than increase the market for power-levellers.
As for the Droks run, well, if ANet was really against the Drok runs, they'd just close off Lornars.

The only armor with a level requirement is sentinel's.... per piece, if you do not have 13 str, you lose 20 al.... that's the only armor with a req.. :S.
