Ok, to start off, here's my computer specs.

X800 XT -Brand New
AMD 64bit 939pin 3500+
1 Gig Crucial Ram
7Fans (excluding processer and Cpu fans)
Dual Maxtor 80Gig SATA RAID (not sure if that matters)

Problem:

I've been playing Guild Wars for well over 8Months, I had a slight problem before with fps but that was my graphics card, so i went out and bought a new one. It works perfectly, smooth, beautiful and shiney. Untill i'd say about saturday (2 days ago) my FPS just dropped to below 30fps(max). Walking around busy and empty towns i get roughly 15fps and in missions 10fps
[EDIT] Also another problem is i press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and it tells my it's using 100%cpu usage and 800odd PF usage. What does this means?[EDIT]

I have settings on full, resolution on 1280 x 960. I use fraps to see my fps and before the random drop in fps i used to get roughly 80fps(max) and 60fps(min). I have absoloutly no idea what caused the drop in fps and i've tried reinstalling drivers but it still doesnt seem to work.
[EDIT] I have tried lowering settings but this makes no difference either[EDIT]

Has anyone else encountered the same problem?
Can anyone suggest help/recommendations?
Is there anything wrong with my spec that could effect my gameplay?

Get back to me as soon as possible please

Thanks in advance.

There was a change to the Sound System that added DS3D as well. It could be eating up the CPU processes if you don't have a sound card with hardware sound acceleration.

Try moving the sound Quality slider all the way to the left and see if that is what's affecting it.

Are you actually noticing any loss in game performance while playing with lag or such?

Also, don't use Fraps for your FPS...

Right-Click your Guild Wars EXE file, go to Properties, then for your target, add to the end:

-perf display fps
OR
-perf

So it should look 'something' like this:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -perf display fps

Although mine is:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -perf display fps -fps 60 -map -heapsize 512000

I have used fraps before, and it doesn't seem to be any less reliable than the GW edit.

Try closing all other applications when running the game.

Wanna try updating your Graphics Card Drivers from www.ati.com, and also, run some Spyware and Virus scans.

I've just done a virus scan, found load of crap, none of which effected my fps or Cpu usage. I've already updated my Graphics Card Drivers, they have to be fully updated in order for cs to run as slick as it does... but i installed em again to be sure

I recently got a 7800GTX and I had the same problem, low FPS in about everything. So I downloaded the most recent drivers, downloaded driver cleaner, uninstalled my old drivers, ran driver cleaner (as per the instructions) and reinstalled the new drivers. Afterwards it was good as new, or well better!

Just for reference, I get around 80-150 FPS, in 1600x1200 res, on max settings with AA and AF on 8x and 16x respectively. It usually goes down a bit in cities with a lot of people like the main Ascalon and LA distrcts.

Problem Fixed.

Solution: Game is fine unless i minimize then maximize or play in a window then maximize. Dont know why it does it but it's annoying.

Hope that helps anyone else that has the same problem.

It'll happen if you run windowed with any transparencies on your desktop. Don't ask me why, but it's true. I figured it out a few days ago. For example, if you're running GW windowed and have... msn messenger or something off to one side partly transparent? It'll run like crap. Close the transparencies OR make them fully visible? runs like a charm.
