Due to a server error, Guild Wars experienced an unintentional reset of the traders. For nearly an hour, traders were selling items at unrealistically low prices. Due to the harmful impact that such an event would cause to the game economy, we are rolling back the entire state of the game to shortly before the problem began, that is, to 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time, 21:00 GMT.

Thats very good! I'm very pleased that they are concerned like this with the economy.. Just imagine, a game having its own 'depression' state.

I was getting Error 13 for a bit, then restarted my comps and still am getting error 72. Anybody heard how long the roll back will take? I was looking forward to some game time without having to deal with the young one tonight dadnapit.

To reset individual items on individual accounts will take forever it is far easier to roll back the whole game than to leave people in limbo for ages!

Everybody has lost out by this, even those who exploited the error.

Could be worse....they could ban you for exploiting an explot instead of reporting it.... that happed when they fixed the mirror to give out 50k xp (instead of automatic level 20) and people beat it alot to farm skill points, and they even banned certain accounts.

its been showed to us over and over again that using what they provide to gain unbelievable wealth is not against the rules

its only against the rules if you have to trick the game to do it. noticing that shards and sup abs runes are 250 gold and deciding to get a bunch isnt cheating, its not looking a gift horse in the mouth :P

of course, i reported it after i bought my share...i just didnt want to report it, lose out on the opportunity, and have everyone else get rich while i was being a good samaritan, dig?

So you exploited a exploit....then reported it so that every thing would go back to normal....then you where hoping to sell the left overs ehh?.....that sounds like exploiting an exploit to me.....

Note the bold, underlined text for everyone who is curious as to when the server will come back up. Earlier it said 8:30 PST/11:30 EST, now it is going to be 11:00pm PST/2:00am EST. That could change depending on how much longer this takes. Hopefully it will be back up by tomorrow morning.

well this is clearly not an exploit, infact anet intentionally reset the market one time before, and ruined the economy for a while, and they didnt roll back anything, as they meant to do it, it just turned out to be a mistake , and when i first noticed this latest reset , some ppl were saying dont buy loads cause they just reset the economy again like last time and they wont be worth much more if anything more, as the prices will stay that low for while (i didnt beleive that when i seen the sup absorb price tho, lol)

and the fact is if they banned everyone who bought something cheap during this mess up, they ould be banning 70%+ of their games quite possibly :'D

The reset last year was to bring all the trader prices together rather than have them seperated by region so prices would be globally the same. This one wasn't purposely reset. Before there was a reason, this time just happened, server problems arise, this is one of the first and only major ones I can ever remember Guild Wars having since the March Beta Event last year when I first started playing Guild Wars. This is the longest downtime period I have seen since the Beta Events, and thus far, Guild Wars has done a pretty damn good job of being stable considering the amount of players around the world they have to support.

I honestly don't believe this was intentional, if it was intentally done, they wouldn't be going to the trouble of rolling back everything. It's more trouble than it's worth if this was all planned to be intentally done and it wouldn't be taking so long to fix the problem if it were intential...

~Adaria

Edit: Like I said, give them a break. This is the first big problem Guild Wars has had that has cuased the servers to be shut off completely. I know of alot of other games that have constant problems and have more downtime than GW has had in its entirety of being up and running from the day it was released.

luckily my school bus didnt pick me up, so i had to find my way home on the city bus, so i had no time for GW. and why were people buying so much of an item, did they expect to sell for the normal price when everyone else could buy for same price?

I imagine that their reasons varied, but many probably did expect to sell for the normal price, but only once the economy was near it's normal state. This would of course probably occur very quickly as everyone would likely be buying crap like crazy, and the lucky ones who bought stuff for cheap would be set to make a fortune. If I myself was on when all that occurred, I would've bought a bunch of stuff so that I could get myself some 15k armor for much cheaper than I could at normal economic prices.
