w00t! Ritualists can now summon Dragons!
Network
Here, this is from the march 13th gamespot article of guildwars factions:
ArenaNet admits that it has fallen a bit behind in delivering the next chapter in Guild Wars, but Factions promises to make up for it. The company has learned many lessons from the launch of Guild Wars and applied these to Factions. There's a lot of new stuff to see and do in Factions, and as we played around in some PVP battles, we were amazed at some of the new features in the game. The rituatalist is a spirit summoner that can conjure up huge dragons and other creatures to fight for him or her, and the assassin has the ability to "teleport" on top of a target and deliver a rapid number of killing blows in a matter of seconds. Factions looks great, and considering how good the original Guild Wars is, there's going to be a lot in here for online role-playing fans to digest. The game is almost done, and we can expect Factions to launch online on April 27, though the retail version will be released a day later.
All I can say is: w00t!

don't let alot pvp players know this because they may try to get guild wars to change that idea. I think they will be able somon more than dragons but yea I like the idea
Grimm
Sorry, but I think Gamespot got their facts wrong. I don't believe ritualists will be able to summon dragons at all. I watched the videos and all the spirits looked just like every other ritualist spirit out there, ie: not a dragon. Ritualists summoning dragons just makes no sense.

Ahhhhh............that takes me back to Final Fantasy 8 that had Guardian Forces that would help you fight.
GF's FTW!

This kinda hints at it in the skills listed, but i didnt see a skill specifically stating that you can create a creature. Most everything listed was for summoning spirits.
Explosive Growth - Enchantment Spell
For 15 seconds, whenever you create a creature, up to 5 foes near that creature are struck for 20 lightning damage.
15 2 45

I wonder if a minion would also be considered as a creature. Since that would be cool... in stead of exploding the corpses create minons from them and get dmg over time and an aoe

What if my pet dies in battle and I res it? I wonder if that would be considered creating a creature.

I'm pretty sure the preorder doesn't come with a manual until the 27th/April, when you get the actual game.
Haggard
i dont know, but the manual is designed to be vague enough to excite noobs and make mountains out of things which are really molehills

The dragon in the video is an NPC that delivers a shout to give the party more attack boast but less life. In the video it is King of the Hill, both sides has a dragon for the "shout" and do a relentless killing to the score of 400.
When all party members receive 60 DP from all the killing, the dragon "dies" and all Dp is gone and whole party is ressed. After 30 seconds the Dragon ressurects and it goes on till 400 kills.

Edit: Nm, better to get some concrete info first.

Hmmmm Ritualist is starting to sound like a summoner of sorts.I was under the impression they were like rangers who make useful spirits but cant actually fight much

The can heal, spike damage, AoE damage, summon static spirits, and (perhaps most underated) can buff weapons with cool effects.
I've seen nothing that makes me believe Ritualists will summon any creatures besides spirits ....

Then this has to be a major mistake on the Gamespot interview
Here's the link, it's all the way at the bottom.

I mean think about this guys. Wouldn't that be a little unbalanced?
But prove me wrong in the Preview event, and do it.

Dragons should be reserved for NPCs, like Glint and Kuunavang (the Dragon in Factions mentioned in Comp Gaming World.)

I doubt the dragon's a pet, since when the player clicked on it, it talked back. It's somewhat hard to notice, but you can see the speech bubble pop up over its head when the player runs up to it.
Fred Kiwi
maybe its a baby dragon
