New interface makes rerolling slower!
blue cheez
The new interface when creating a PvP character is so bad!!! Why did they make it so that you have to put your mouse over the attributes to see them, now you cant see any affect in adding runes at all! I speak for PvP'er here when I say that they should make re-rolling new characters as fast as possible. Not simply making something that looks pretty when PvE'ers decide to create an extra character every 4 months! I find the new interface for rerolling PvP characters WAY too inconveinant!!!
Greedy Gus
Yeah I'm not a fan either.
stickyballs
The point is so that you can make them quickly and delete them to reroll for HA or something. You're not alone, as I don't really like it either.

I for one agree with everything that blue cheez mentioned, and here are some other things I am unhappy about concerning the Character creation process:
1. Lags like a mofo compared to everything else I have ever done on my computer. Lags more than the actual gameplay itself.
2. The crooked color choice area for armor... wtf?

i would like a "edit pvp char" option sooo much...

Kind of the same topic:
I've noticed that when you try to make a new PvE character, the screen where you choose campaigns (Prophecies or Factions buttons), seems to lag for a second before appearing.
Also, when you reach the "choose body size on the side ruler" screen, if you hit the 'back' and 'next' buttons to keep coming back to it, the section of the ruler that is alotted for your classes' body size sometimes SHIFTS higher or lower than the original place. Not the size you pick (that moves proportional), just the red max/min markers.
Just noticed this after the revision last week.

At the current state, PvP character creation goes like this: Click the right big image to create a PvP character Original method: 1. Choose templates, or choose primary and secondary class 2. Choose skills 3. Choose gender, face, hair, skin colour, height 4. Choose armour, runes, weapons, shields, staves, foci 5. Type name I propose this change: 1. Click the right big image to create a PvP character 2. Choose method --- Orginal method --- Quick creation --- Uber quick creation Quick creation: 1. Choose gender, face, hair, skin colour, height 2. Type name Uber quick creation: Gender, face, hair, skin colour, height are randomized 1. Type name Ok, you may ask, what about the equipement, runes? At the moment, in all PvP areanas, you have - Balhatzar priest (unlock stuff with factions) - Rune trader (buy runes with gold) - Xunlai storage I propose to add in: - Balhatzar equipment master (gives out everything you have unlocked, to PvP characters only) Or, perhaps like this: - Balhatzar armourer (include runes) - Balhatzar weapons master (include shields, weapon upgrades) - Balhatzar archmage (staves and foci, staff upgrades) - Balhatzar sage (change secondary professions) - Balhatzar dye keeper (dyes) All retrieved equipment will be customized to the PvP character who collected them. Discuss. EDIT: As The Primeval King has mentioned: - change build without having to re-create whole character (need different rune or weapon) For myself, when I play a warrior, I need: - physical damage weapon (vs rangers, mesmers, elementalists, necros) - elemental damage weapon (vs warriors) - bow, to shoot runners in Competitive Arena and to charge up "Rush" so I can keep chase em But with the current PvP character creation setup, I am only limited to 2 weapon sets, sad. EDIT 2: - added Balhatzar sage EDIT 3: - added Balhatzar dye keeper |

Honestly, i think they should focus a little less on making it look pretty for the people who are testing out the game in March-and should make it so that its acutally conveinant for real players!

it is pvp and will be replaced in an hour or so anyway.

Errr....did you even read what i said!? I said its they are focusing to much on making the interface look pretty, that it becomes too inconveinant and more time consuming to create a PvP character
Solberg the Exiled
It is indeed quite inconvenient. An edit pvp character option would help out soooo much. It's very annoying when you have to delete an entire character and remake it just to switch from superior divine favor rune to superior healing rune, or something like that... I still don't understand why they have the rune trader in PvP areas as pvp character won't have any money to buy the rune anyway.

click *next* at each option until you get to the name and take what it gives you after choosing your profession.
minimal time spent

I personally dont mind the set up of it myself. The lag is a known issue and has been reported to AN so they will hopefully take care of that matter pretty soon.
blue cheez
Honestly, i think that the vast majority of PvP'ers {that reroll alot} really dont like the new setup of character creation.

However, I do think you shouldn't need to completely reroll in the first place.

Anet needs to let people start saving character builds locally. There should be a button beside the "Create" one that says "Load".
Lady Lorwinia
Yeah I don't like it either. But their not going to change it back so we might as well get used to it.
Blaze Emup
Quit yer whining. Its not going to hurt you to take a few extra seconds to roll your Iway characters.
SaintGreg
I like the user interface, but I agree that it lags too much to be able to be used as fast as it could be. Also, the skillbar in the choose skills section needs to be bigger, I can hardly fit my mouse in that tiny area; it should be the same size as the one you use as your ordinary interface.
Feminist Terrorist
You shouldn't put your mouse on the screen anyway. It belongs on the mouse pad. rofl

Personally, and excuse my french, that the new system is a pain in the butt.
I pick my job and attributes, that's fine, then it gets (once again my french ) crappy.
I have to click my gender, then click next. Why can't it just take you to the next screen?
While I'm searching through the armors I have a huge transparent square in front of my character, and you have to click the same body piece to make it go away (again, why add the extra click? and not just have it off to the side such as before)
Then there's a screen for the faces, skin color, hair color, and hair style. Plus a completely seperate screen for height and armor color (once again, why add the extra steps of having 2 comepltely different screens for the same thing? they're both appearance)
It's always been a habit of mine to give my characters a certain "look", and ti just seems like I'm going back and forth alot between stuff for the same thing. I suppose Anet knew this so they added the unlabeled checklist at the bottom...as already mentioned the problem is it's an "unlabeled" checklist.
The knew interface wasn't that big a deal to me, but it seems like Anet threw out their old version for a more clumsy visually pleasing version. It almost seems like the interface doesn't flow with obvious mismatches like the huge graphical main profession graphic, with the small text secondary profession choice table. The best way I can say what the problem seems to be is it's just clumsier (I mean what the hell I go from Gender to Skills and Attributes to Armor to Appearance). No cohesiveness, feels like it was thrown together in about 5 minutes, two thumbs down.

Hmm, I don't know about this new sytem coz I've never made a pvp-only character.
Altair
What I miss, is that you can see directly your attributes points when you set up your runes, you need to pass the mouse over the attribute window and it is a bit slow (lag ?)
GraceAlone
I would have to agree that this is not convient for making a new toon. I re-rolled my PvP character after this update and had to keep seeing what effect my runes where having on to see if I needed to redistribute my attribute points. While it does "look" better, it is less functional, which I preferred.
eht123
Yep, the new interface is a pain compared to the old one. Definitely a step backwards.
Sagius Truthbarron
UPDATE: Oops, didn't realise they changed it again.
Yes, the new interface is pointless.
Yes, the new interface is pointless.

Sagius, while some things are better (such as the "physical" appearence) there are other aspects that are worse such as attribute points during the armor/runes/weapon selection process. That is what I see most of use not liking
Mordakai
I can't wait until they have a "save template" function.
That will help a lot.

Yeah, the new character creation window is not very good. There are two huge steps backwards:
1) The new lag.
2) Attributes window needs mouseover.
I'm not a fan of the other changes either, I think it made things worse. Maybe ANet should just let us customize the creation interface somehow.

Cymboric Treewalker
I personally think that it looks great... I am not sure why you would need to totally recreate a PvP character so often... unless you wanted to change the armor or the professions there should be no need.

NP Loviatar, we still love ya!

The lag is what really bothers me...UGH! >.<

I hate the new interface too. It used to be a pain to reroll. Now it's a HUGE pain to reroll. I really wish we could configure armor, runes, weapons, mods, attributes, and skills all in the same page. This would make it easier to check for errors when rolling in a hurry.
On a different note, I wish we could have 4 weapon sets for PvP creation.

Yeah, it really seems as though all the recient updates that they've been making....errr....completly suck. The new sound features screwed up in every way possible, there now is lag in the interface, lag in guild wars itself, the entire item craze, jeez i think they actually need to LOOK over the modds they make to the game. Its like whatever crap they think of-they slap onto guild wars.
