Do Vets need Faction CDs?
Mordakai
So, Factions comes with two CDs.
Are we even going to need them? It sounds like everything as already been downloaded - all we need are the keys, and we have access to Factions.
Correct?

You never need the cd's as long you got the base client, the one you can get from their site, then you can download the rest as you play. The cd's are just more convenient since it's faster.

So, I won't need the CDs at all. (Thanks Renegade)

So the CD's are for peeps who aint got any fast internet connection, so they can start playing right after they installed the game from the CD's? Makes sense, would've been very boring to have to wait for 2 hours for alll GW content to download

the patch a little while ago was just the information for the open beta. which imho won't be all the content. But you will be downloading the new content as you progress if you don't install from the cds. As you would do when you only buy a key from playNC and download the remaining as you go.
The advantage is just that you can keep on playing untill your cds arrive and then install your cds to get all the content without being interrupted in your playtime or having to waste precious download for 56k-ers or people with downloadlimits.

If you order online and they send you the pre-order jazz, and you're supposed to be able to play a day earlier before the game actually comes out, how does this work? The access key is sent to an email? See I find this confusing. >_> I'v never done it before.
But Iv already streamed all my content, you should do the same. It will help you in the future, young padawan.

Why would persons qualified to treat animals need Factions CDs?
You don't need to install the CDs (of either campaign) if you have the client installed, but it will save you a lot of downloading. The recent large downloads are probably just for the preview event; you probably still need to download a lot more later on up to and after the release date.

www.plaync.com will sell you just the cd key. You'll then download/stream the content later when it's made online/as you play Factions. You won't get any box/CDs from them though as far as I know.
Edit: https://store.plaync.com/home.php they don't have Factions there yet, oddly enough!
There are a few other online shops probably who will send you a key in email and then post you the CDs/box later. In my case gameplay.co.uk are doing just that (not much use to you if you're outside UK though). Try look through the forum for online stores. Amazon.com maybe?

The data you've been streaming to your Computers is for the Faction PvE Preview event...you will need to order Factions or a Serial Number online to be able to actually play the Factions/Prophecies World of Guild Wars when it's Officially released...

LOL.
EDIT: I wouldn't say it's useless. I never bothered to download the trailers.
And, hey, more Jeremy Soule music. That will be sweet to listen to!
Has anyone seen the Tabula Rasa trailer? How does it look? Man, if NCSoft offered access to all their games for a flat monthly fee, that would be very tempting (GW remaining free regardless, of course!)

I don't have my CD with me, or I'd check.
I'll check mine out and let you know tomorrow.
EDIT: OK, I checked the CD and it hase everything mentioned. It auto-runs when you load it in the drive, then you pick from tabs of what you want (Wallpaper, Videos, Trailers, Screenshots, etc)
You can listen to the music on a CD player, too.
