I tried to get onto guildwars today, but when i get the first small screen that says 'connecting to ArenaNet' nothing happened, the percentage bar stayed at 0 and nothing has happeded since. It was working perfectly yesterday, no problems at all until today.

How long did you leave it on there for? I just had to leave mine on for a minute or so before for it to load.
Installed anything new? Firewall or such? I doubt it's anything like that, maybe just something small and obvious.

I've left it for about 15 minuites earlier and got nothing, i tried again about 10 mins ago and its still not done anything now.

I know this might not be worth it to you, so what I suggest, IS.
Move your Gw.dat file (you should know which 1 it is, as it's quite big, mine's around 1.5GB) in your C:\Program Files\Guild Wars directory to your Desktop or someplace, un-install Guild Wars but make sure your Gw.dat file is still there on your Desktop, then download the Guild Wars client of the Website, here:
http://www.guildwars.com/downloads/gwsetup.zip
Then run it, if it works, good, just move your Gw.dat file back to your Program Files of Guild Wars again.
Note: I tell you to move your Gw.dat file is that what holds all the info so you don't have to load all the Locations and Maps again.
+ Are you having any other problems with your ISP lately?
[EDIT]
Although, you may have to keep your Gw.dat file deleted and let everything re-download as it may corrupt something to do with the BETA PvE Factions event coming up.
TRY THIS FIRST BEFORE ANY OF THE ABOVE:
Move your Gw.dat file, start Guild Wars up so it makes a new Gw.dat file in your Program Files and see if it works.

I'd rather not try all of this straight away unless i have no other ideas. I'll wait a while and see if any other ideas come out before i resort to that.
no I havn't had any problems with my ISP lately.
thanks for your help so far, if you have any other ideas before i try this, let me know

aha I've figurered out the problem! It was my firewall :S which is strange because i'ts never stopped me before. Thanks for all the help Josh.

Heh, I said Firewall in the beginning but I thought you'd done nothing since but...meh whatever, lol.
Good job.
Good job.
Maethor
Well I thought it couldn't be my firewall because it never stopped me before and I havn't changed it since lol.
