BRA Giveaway Event!

Yes, it's that time once again. The BRA guild will be holding another fun giveaway event in Lion's Arch ID1. This time the event will serve as a kickoff party for the Factions Preview Weekend! We plan to hold it Thursday, March 23rd, which is the same day that the FPE starts (at midnight of that day) so hopefully this event will get everyone even more excited about the preview weekend!

For those that aren't familiar with the BRA giveaway events:
The Black Rose Assassins is a guild that formed in the betas of Guild Wars and played the beta events as much as they possibly could. The atmosphere of the GW world during the betas was one of honest and genuine friendliness. Everyone was nice to everyone, and everyone just had a blast playing the game with everyone else. We want to do whatever is in our power to bring back this sort of atmosphere. By hosting an event where we give away free items, it brings people together with a great attitude, and everyone gets to participate in some fun games with this positive attitude. It basically leads to a super fun event where everyone has a great time. We've been told people feel like they're back at summer camp with all the fun they have from the event with the fun games they get to play.

Basically, the mantra one should have for the event is "Come for the prizes, stay for the festivities." The prizes won't be that max perfect godly crystaline sword that costs 800K and 600 ectos. They will be things like:



Please don't ask for anything specific too, because we will not have enough time to rummage through all of our accounts and find what you want. Also please don't try to move back in line to get items more than you should. We are all on a TS server so we will find you out if you try! :-P

The way you win some prizes is by competing in certain games. We will be hosting a variety of games, such as:
- Simon Says
- Trivia
- Tag
- Tin Soldier Race
- Possibly a new super secret game!

We also gave out a couple "booby prizes" last giveaway that people can redeem at this giveaway for a very nice prize! A "booby prize" is a dud prize that has been customized by one of us BRA members, so maybe a starter fire wand or something. When you get these, don't be upset, but be glad because you can get one of the better items at the next giveaway with them!

So if you want to have a blastin good time on the Thursday before the FPE event, come on by and take part in the festivities!

Great idea man. I try to give stuff away as often as I can, but only to the "right" kind of gamers (by right I mean someone who is not equipped in Forge or better armor). My latest is giving out the Ascalon Short Bows (collector - 15%^50) in Piken Square. The hydra claws are easy to come by, since I use that area of the desert to train 55 monks (for free also).

If you want some more items to give out, I may have some things in storage just sitting around. Nothin that would sell well in the game, but worth a few thousand more than a merchant would give me. Whisper me in-game if you want.

Keep up the good deeds too.

Add exotic dancers on that list and i'll be there too!!!

Ill go but im asking a question, can are you advertising this event in the game to? More people would come if u advertise in game, it would be hard to tho

Hey, why else do people give away free stuff? To be [I]PROMOTED[I]! Just like when people give away free stuff people start spamming "--insert name here-- is a nice person!"

1. No free booze or food, sorry :-( come anyways though and be merry!

2. If anyone wants to donate items to the "To be given away" pile, please PM me, message me on AIM (krashdumzy) or whisper my in-game and hopefully we can arrange a time to get together so I can get the item(s) from you. Last time a few people did that and it was very generous and kind of them. Thanks for offering to donate items too this time. It's still just as generous and I thank everyone who donates items.

3. This isn't an advertisement or promotion of our guild. We're associating our guild name with a fun event, yes, but we're not trying to get people to vote us as guild of the week or anything like that. The most we hope for out of this is for someone to recognise us in-game sometime down the line and say "hey BRA, I remember you guys from your giveaway, hi!" If you're that mad about us giving away items and hosting a super fun event for anyone that wishes to come, then you can simply not come have fun. Sorry if having fun is such a horrible thing.

4. We don't advertise these events in-game because it will produce way too big of a crowd and not everyone that wishes to attend will be able to. We find that just advertising the event on the forums generates a relatively perfect crowd to fit into the district.

Thought I'd give one final bump to the thread in case anyone missed it.

Thank you so far to all of the people who have donated to the event. I can honestly say that they item pile for this event is the best one we've had so far, in terms of size and quality of items. Hopefully the same can be said of the attendance of the event!

Thought I'd let everyone in in a couple unwritten rules of the event which help make everything go much smoother: Please make sure you have your trade channel chat filter checked so you can read what is in the trade channel, and please refrain from using it. It helps to let only those in BRA use the trade channel so it is much easier to read what we are saying. Unfortunately we cannot get the devs to give us temporary purple mod text :-( so this is just the next best thing. It worked out very nicely last time, so I'm hoping it will work just as perfectly this time.

We also ask you not to attempt to trick us into giving you more items. You will have many chances to get some items, so no need to cheat!

So the event will officially start when the time on my VCR reads 6:00 PM PST. This way everyone will get a chance to arrive, including all of the BRA members. If you arrive earlier than that, us BRA members will probably be switching characters ensuring that we have all of our inventories setup properly for the giveaway. We can joke around, practice some trivia, or PM Spike someone while we're waiting. Last time I got PM Spiked because I was taking a while to get my inventory all right >.<

So make sure to come to the event, and bring a friend!

There was a smaller turnout this time around compared to our last giveaway, but I think that turned out for the better. We also had the biggest pile to draw from for prizes! This is due to the huge number of donations made by some very nice people. I'd like to take this time to list those kind souls that helped our cause by donating some rather nice items:

Overall this event was my favorite so far. The tin soldier race turned out especially nice, I just love the chaos of that event. Everyone is just freaking out and going everywhere, while us BRA members get to go stand in front of people trying to mess their tin solider up!

I also enjoyed how we could give two items per prize instead of 1, since we had such a huge pile. That made things better, and also easier for us. I'm pretty sure the participants enjoyed that as well.

If anyone has any feedback or suggestions that they would like to give us, please post your ideas and opinions on here or send them to me in a PM. We love getting feedback from these, and are always looking for ways to make them better.

This was probably the last giveaway for the Prophecies campaign. I'm going to guess that once Factions gets released we're going to be spending a bit of time actually playing through the game, so there will most likely not be another giveaway for a few months. The next one could be really awesome though, seeing how the people who own districts can use their faction points to set off parades and fireworks. Could make for an excellent wrap up for the giveaways!

Haha, I loved this event, I even got one of the infamous booby prizes. I was even more excited to see all the people (and on a side note I was pretty pleased I didn't get back any of the items I donated ). It was a lot of fun, can't wait for you guys to do it again.

My luck with rare drops seems to be insane. Even when I tried chest running hoping for a Mursaat skinned rare hammer, I didn't get the hammer, but I got like 7/10 rares from chests .
