Hi everyonw, I was fiddling around with builds and I decided to make a ritualist. This is my first build ever so go easy, but constructive criticism is appreciated. Thanks

Profession: Ritualist/Warrior
Name: I need help here
Type: Probably PvE
Category: I would have no idea, suggestions here aswell
Attributes:

16 Spawning Power (12+3+1)
13 Communing (10+3)
8 Swordsmanship

Skills Set:

Boon of Creation
Signet of Creation
Rupture Soul
Spirit Boon Strike
Consume Soul {Elite}
Pain
Blood Song
Res Signet

Summary: Okay, i'm not able to test it yet but from what I can see, this build should be able to heal, deal damage, and has energy managment. The idea is to be in the thick of it with your spirits, healing everything and keeping everything going, while dropping a spell like rupture soul when you can spare a spirit to do large amounts of damage.

Notes & Concerns: I have no idea wether 2 superior runes is too much but having a rune of superior vigor will probably help offset that.

Credit: As far as I know, this build can only be credited to me. I'm reasonably new to this but I haven't really seen a similar build, let me know if i'm wrong.

Thanks to everyone in advance who helps me out with this build thanks

Fail to see how you use the warrior skills.

The problem with all caster classes with Warrior secondary is need to supplement armor. In addition, that armor must be wards/stances/ shouts because enchantments can be stripped.

At this point, your wand/staff will deal the same or more damage AND keep you out of harms way.

besides the fact that Sword 8 is useless, the build has another serious problem:

You only have two summon spirit spells, and 3 spells that destroy spirits. (Rupture, Consume, and Signet of Creation). Signet is pretty useless, since you'll probably be sacrificing the few spirits you have in play anyway.

Here's an example of a Ritualist Build I'm planning on running in the Preview even, I'll let you know how it works:

Grasping Build

Channeling 16(?)
Spawning ?
Communion ?
(I need to play with the numbers once I have accurate effects on effects of spells I use most)

Cruel was Daoshen (direct dam)
Grasping was Kuurong (E) (dam + knockdown)
Earthbind (spirit - extends knockdown of Grasping)

Rupture Soul combo with
Destruction (spirit)
Pain (spirit)
Boon of Creation
Flesh of My Flesh or Res Sig

Both Rupture and Destruction have same recharge, plus, Destruction does extra damage when it dies (tests will determine whether it's worth letting Destruction "charge" before Rupture or not - it will probably depend on whether I need to blind that warrior charging at me or not!) The main benefit of Destruction is not the extra dam, but the 20 sec. recharge!

This build still might be trying too much - but I want to try it out and see.

I don't know if im missing anything but he has 8 in swordsminship but no warrior skills on skill bar? Does he plain on using a sword without any warrior skills and going pure ritualist?

Unless he has a skill to boast an effect on the sword he is wielding?

No skills I can see, although now you mention it, a Rt/W with some Ritualist Weapon spells would at least make some sense...

Choose from:

Channeling
Nightmare Weapon (steal 5-41 health)
Wailing Weapon (for 5-10 sec, when strike att. foe, foe is interrupted)
Splinter Weapon (next attack does 5-41 dam to adj foes)

Communing
Brutal Weapon (+5 to +X dam if not enchanted) x is unknown
Guided Weapon (ignores Blindess, can't be blocked or evaded)

Restoration
Vital Weapon (+40 - 168 health)
Resilient Weapon (+regen & armor if suf. from Hex or Cond)
Spirit Light Weapon (Elite - +3 health regen if near Spirit)
Vengeful Weapon (steals health)
Weapon of Shadow (blinds for 3 sec)
Weapon of Warding (50% block, +1 health regen)

(information from earlier post on this site, info may not be correct)

EDIT: Thanks, Glasswalker.
OMG, Werewolf fan... it only took me a few months to figure it out! LOL

Guided Weapon is absolutely brutal on a Warrior. It has a recharge significantly longer than its duration, and the only way to effectively make it last longer is both an Enchantment and requires you to be near a spirit (Ghostly Haste).

You could pair it up with Spirit Light Weapon or Resilient Weapon(!) to offset the duration if you find that you are targetted.

The 8 in Swordsmanship is gaining you nothing. With 16 in SP and 13 in Communing, you can do more damage with a staff based on those stats than with a req 8 or lower sword. And seeing as how you aren't using any secondary skills at all, those points are better spent elsewhere.

If on the other hand, you wanted to go W/Rt with SM, Com and Restoration, you can put in Frenzy, Res Sig, Guided Weapon, Resilient Weapon and 4 Sword Skills.

One other thing: There are a couple of skills that destroy targetted spirits, and the descriptions are ambiguous on the point of whether they affect enemy spirits. If it turns out they do, a primary Warrior who can remove the enemy's defenses with a touch will be godly.

P.S. Mordakai: The description for Brutal Weapon is spot on as far as I remember, except that the + to damage was based on your stat level. 5 is for Communing 0. Same with Weapon of Warding. My stock Ritualist has +3 Regen.

Yeah, your probably right, i should have put the points into channeling. My idea was to keep in the thick of things because I think I have to touch the spirit I want to use. Anyway, does anyone know if spirits move or are they like ranger spirits? Are they ranged?

They are like Ranger spirits with Ranged attacks.

OK, this is how my (limited) experience went with Ritualists during the Preview event (4 vs 4 random arena):

I was playing the default Ritualist/Mesmer build Earthbinder.

It had:

Earthbind
Wanderlust (E) spirit that knocks down opp. with attack
Pain
Boon of Creation
Rupture Soul
Mantra of Resolve (mesmer, prevents interupt)
Flesh of My Flesh

There was one more spirit I believe...

Anyway, this was a decent build. I would summon an army of Spirits (who stay in one place, but attack), and cast Rupture as needed against Warriors and Assassins who decided to attack me. That blinded them and gave me time to summon more spirits. The actual Earthbind / Wanderlust combo wasn't effective as I liked, as it was only hitting one opponent at a time (and I had no control who the spirit knocked down). Thus, the insp. for my Grasping Build.

Yes, the spirit destructing skill descriptions are a bit vague at first, but watch what happens when you compare them:

Feast of Souls: Spell. Destroy all nearby allies' Spirits. For each Spirit destroyed in this way, all party members are healed for 50 - 90 Health.
Rupture Soul: Spell. Target allied Spirit is destroyed. All nearby enemies are struck for 50 - 122 lightning damage and become blinded for 3 - 10 seconds.

But then check out the elite:
Consume Soul [E]: Elite Spell. Target touched Spirit is destroyed. All Allies in the area are healed for 30 - 198 Health.

ANet has been known for typos in the past, but one would think that this elite description left out the keyword 'allied' intentionally...

Hmmmmmm...and interesting thought, but only really usefull to know in PvP, you probably won't fight too many spirits in PvE

Well... you do fight a lot of creatures in PvE that summon spirits, at least in Prophecies. And if you could destroy that spirit, and make (for example) Signets cost no energy again, or significantly reduce the damage that Destruction will cause later, healing yourself and all nearby allies in the process... that will rock.

I am intentionally leaving room for the skill description to be inaccurate. There are plenty of current skills that after all this time don't match up with actuality. The difference is, I haven't had a chance to test it here.

Yeah, I really want to test out a ritualist so as soon as factions comes out, it's the first character i'm going to make. Assassins look like they have some pretty cool abilities but I reckon ritualists look like more fun to play.

Can you have multiple weapons going at the same time? Or only one?

Oh, and if you ignore the points spent in swordsmanship, does this look like an okay build? What should i spend those points on?
