With the recent buff to Protector's Strike, it's become quite the effecient means of gaining adrenaline.
I'm very curious to see exact numbers comparing Adrenaline gained/Number of hits with Frenzy vs Protector's Strike vs Unfrenzied/Protect Strike, granted you are frenzying every 8 seconds and you are using Protector's Strike every 8 seconds (With both hammer and axe/sword).
I'd also like to see the same situations, but comparing DPS (Against a target constantly standing still).
I'm not very good with numbers... but once the numbers come out, I'm pretty sure a good discussion can develope.
Regardless of the numbers, it's obvious that they still have advantages over one another.
Protector's Strike
PROS:
-Not a stance; can be rushed/sprinted with it on
-Don't take double damage
-Bonus Damage against moving targets
-Can be used as a swift follow-up after a spike
CONS:
-If the attack is interrupted, you don't reap any benefits
-Very spammable; can quickly become expensive if you aren't good at energy management
-Don't get bonuses from "In stance" shields/weapons (and soon armor)
Frenzy
PROS:
-Makes your spikes/interrupt come off quicker
-Can't be interrupted
-Bonuses from stanceweapons/shields
CONS:
-Take double damage, sometimes making this skill unusable
-Cancels other stances/need cancel stances
Frenzy vs. Protector's Strike

Using frenzy to gain adrenaline is using frenzy wrong. Frenzy is used for spiking with adrenaline skills, and also functions as increasing your DPS by 50% while it's up. Protector's strike is also useful in adding extra hits during spikes. But they work differently and can't/shouldn't be compared with each other.

does that mean that you don't use frenzy when charging adrenals but use it for spiking ?

i believe the point he was making is that it makes no sense to compare an ias stance with an attack skill. and frenzy isn't used just for building adrenaline.

finally, someone notices the benefits of protectors strike
obviously its best for hammer warriors, though it is interesting if you can manage to time it right with an axe/sword
