i started playing this game when it came out what seems like a long long time ago. I was a necro/war and everything was great but i got bored and left. now i come back long onto my character just to get raped PvE by some stuff i dont even remember... Now when i still played a long long time ago ne/war and war/monks were the shit, and now it seems my ne/war sucks. Is war/monk still the way to go? if not what do you guys suggest? I hate being able to tank and not give out damage, but i hate being able to give out damage and not tank anything. Anything a happy medium?

There is no best proffesion mix but i can point out some of the most popular:
Ele/Mes
War/Mo
R/Mes
Nec/Mes
Me/N

Obviously for every proffesion a lot will choose monk as thier scondary.. so /Mo's are also very common.

I think no class really is "the shit" in PvE imho it is all about choosing a build that suits you, and feel comfortable with. (and most importantly, is fun for you to play with) Just keep using skills u like, and try to hook up with some flexible players that dont mind what skills you bring.

I was looking at that invicible monk build or whatever it was called... is that a good build? And could i combine that build with a good secondary for good damage? and what build could that be? or could i still do that build with monk as my seconday?

Its a well known, effective (against some enemies) solo farming build. It is farily costly to get started but you should make the money back fairly promptly.

As a current 55 user I suggest that if you're going to make a 55 monk, you should play through the game as a regular monk instead of getting ran through the game then power leveled to 20. If you cant get used to a regular healing monk, I wouldn't suggest making a 55 monk.

On a sidenote, yes you do make back the money spent quickly. I got all that I payed for to make my 55 monk back within 4 hours of farming.

but dont expect to use 55 for everything, its only suitable for certain areas with certain enemies, not for doing missions and quests everywhere

I second that. I keep an extra set of armor so that I can do healing when I need to.

The way I played my first character, I just made him as versatile as possible, unlocking every skill one by one. Oh the wonders of a wandering elementalist with every attribute of armor..
