My Whining Story Thread - with a Positive Spin!!

So I go to FOW as an SS last night and get in a group of 5 that says they can do it with 6 no problem. This guy is bragging he's got 4 million experience, etc., etc. Telling everyone to listen to him, blah, blah. This group was horrible. They start telling me that I am not doing this right, I am not listening, but they keep dying. OK - so that doesn't last long. Waste of time - and aggrevating.

Second group I get in is all jokes - I figure they might not know what they're doing, but it might be fun. This group was awesome!! We were killing everything in our path - no troubles (for the most part) jokes all the way. Get to the center to return the Tomb almost have everyone killed - and the game boots me Not sure if everyone else got booted, but I couldn't believe it. Didn't even get a chest.

The positive spin - earlier in the day I found a Superior Absorption Rune and a Gold Chaos Axe on the first FOW trip.

Just had to whine to someone - there I feel better - kinda...

Sounds like you had a good day, except for being booted from the good group.

And I've really never understood while people brag about insane amounts of XP, thinking that makes them better than everyone else in the game. A person with such huge amounts of XP has either

a) farmed A LOT in the same place
b) done the same quests with ~20k XP rewards over and over again.

This does NOT make you a good allround-player.

I went down last night to get my FoW on my ranger and we filled up the first time pretty easily. My guilie monk and me saw "Very Experienced Tank for Forgemaster" so we bring him, get a couple of monks immediately, 2 more rangers and a ele. Good to go.

We all seem to know pretty much what we are doing, except the very experienced tank. He kept attacking through SS and he died, on each group. Our monks told him that he shouldn't do that or he is going to die but he kept going. Finally he got pissy and left, then started PMing the monks to yell at them. "I can't have had SS on me, there were no beasts" Well there were two that he apparently didn't see that popped up as he engaged a group. Despite not paying enough attention to the party window showing him with a pink triangle and the SS icon that was on his condition area.

So anyway, we leave and get a new group going, my guildie says she doesn't want to do it unless she can tank, so she switches. We have some inital problems with a couple of people not wanting to stay out of the tanks agro bubble while she engaged, but we all had a good time, were friendly and got there in a nice amount of time.

Unfortunately one of our monks who was there to craft, said that he had to go when we got to the spider cave because of some RL thing pushing him. He was pissed because he was so close and was going to have to leave. We told him we were almost there and it would only be about 10 mins more. So he hangs on, we get there, I get my armor and he says "WTF, since when does ascetics take shards to craft???"

I felt so sorry for the guy. He was really upset, and I offered him the shards I had left over, but it wasn't enough so he didn't take them.

I hope he didn't get too discourged and can get his armor eventually.

I feel your pain Thrawn but grats on the good drops earlier! We got crap for drops down there aparat from shards dropping like they were nothing.

Groups that joke around are often much better, because people who know FoW well don't need to screech about directions and tactics - they just go and have fun. Good to see you got one groups like that (the good one, not the poor one) at least

Ilike groups like the second one you were in. If everyones relaxed then they are gonna play better - I went down FoW yesterday too, came out with a shard and a gold shadow blade. Our group eventually started to dwindle after a while and eventually, we were left with just 3 of us - Me, the smiting monk, my guild leader, the blood spike necro and a fire nuker we had picked up for the group. I feel your pain about the D/c, we had a SS necro guildie with us too and they got logged out before we went into the temple of war. Shortly after that, our prot monk got dropped, Then we got as far as the restore the Temple of War quest when the stance tank left and our healer followed, leaving us 3 with my +7 breeze and my mate's maxed Well of Blood as our only healing. We didnt get much further, but we took out a good portion of enemies before they finally got to us. But it was annoying that so many got dropped from the party, So like I said, I feel your pain, mate.

Dang, right off the bat, we've doved into the flame.

When looking for players never get people who spam in local chat saying how good they are and how much xp they have, and never get people who type all in caps.
Get the people who just type short messages like "Warroir LF Team for FoW" ok so you may not always get the best players but i'm sure the team will get a lot futher and more importantly you will have more FUN!

Yea last night I joined a group on my ranger, trying to test out a new build (Ok it sucks) and right off the bat a n00b 55 monk sweatshop n00b dies... and gets a shard... so 2 of the group decided "I WANT THAT SHARD!" a monk and the group leader, while the rest of us, hoping to have fun... i wanted to open a obsidian chest for the first time, so were off fighting over on one side while these 2 stare at the shard.. eventully it opens up and the monk grabs it first.. now the group leader decides to rant about this.... THE ENTIRE TIME! T_T He starts flaming a monk for a bit ... and we get past the first quest no probs (the 55 noob left) he settles down, all of us trying to confort the poor guy, I infact after getting a shard say "Alright man, I'm make you this deal, we get to a chest and I get something worth more then the shard, i'l give you the shard" he just says "Yah Right" and he continues on how he hasn't got a shard for 5 runs, we simply respond about how we have all our bad streaks , including telling him that in my last 10 Tomb Runs I haven't gotten 1 ecto nor green. well we get to the plains thing and kill the 2 dragon liches... and we lose a monk... well suddenly everybody in the group besides me think its a lost cause and run to there deaths into a mob of about 20 skeletal things... so yea...
