Best class to run with henchmen?
giroml
Hello, I will be primarily playing with just henchmen. What is your advice for best class combo to go with just the henchmen? Thank you.
Jetdoc
Depends on what you like doing/plan on doing.
"Running" isn't preferable with henchmen, unless you attempt to use them as distractions/body shields.
If you're actually playing the game and killing everything in your path:
Warrior - if you plan on using primarily support henchmen and want to hack-n-slash yourself
Ranger/Elementalist - if you plan on using henchmen as meat shields and like snipering
Monk/Necro/Mesmer - if you like playing a support role, more like a "general" watching over the battlefield directing the battle

Can a minion master N/Mo do pretty well with just henchmen?

i think monk, the henchies will do enough dmg most of the times, you just gotta keep'm alive
if you encounter hard to heal bosses, try going monk/mesmer and take some mesmer skills

I agree Monk-I play about 90% with henchies and it's better to keep them alive rather than depend on them keeping you alive. Hench healers don't know to keep back (unlike SOME humans) so some bad guys run past my warrior and start pounding on them.

I prefer hench over most pugs. At least hench don't skip the closest monster to attack the one in the back. Pugs do that all the time, and than calling the casters noobs because they die without protection. A hench will never insult you and does exactly what's needed.

Jet I see you have a W/Mo, how does a W/Mo fare with only henchmen? Can you get through the majority of the missions + bonus using a W/Mo and just henchmen?

MM is best wit henchies..

I actually used my W/Mo solo (without henchmen) for almost the entire game, so they definitely work with henchmen as well.
Again, most classes work well with henchmen (and the more apt to being able to solo, even better), but in the end it really depends on how you want to play. Hack-n-slash - warrior is the way to go. Creating an army to defeat your enemy - necro is very nice.

Being atleast part monk will help tremendously, though, otherwise you're free to pick whatever class you want.

I've done most every mission & Bonus with Henchmen - playing as a W/Mo, R/E, R/Me, Mo/R (with henchies I did alot of smiting & took Alesia for healing) and Me/N.

Ew, Warriors+Alesia is crap.

I prefer the warrior because you rush in their and they follow you, plus you a built to take aggro first which you will be most of the time. I'd say monks are the worst because they sometime expect you to attack if they are going to. You would need to bring some smite skills to make the hench work the best.

When I brought up my monk, I found the task of working with hench quite easy. Aggro problems with using Alesia or other squishies were solved by casting an enchant on them so that the AI would shift to a non-enchanted target. Retribution is great for that task.
To handle the attacking, just wand a single target and you've started the chain reaction.
