Call it a rant if you like....but i've noticed a pattern.

If i'm a warrior i'm lucky to get a monk in ra. Once in a blue moon it seems.

Out of frustration I build a monk. Lo and behold I have 1, 2 ,3 monks in my team whenever I enter RA.

Is this sod's law? Have I offended the gods? Or is there perhaps some type of team balancing thats become unbalanced?

If its just once or twice, i'd say its just a freak coincidence. If 10 times in a row, then obviously RA is grouping all the monks together for no reason. lol

yeah it happened to me too

i was running my essence bond monk, and there you go: a 3 monk team

i run my 55 build in CA to piss off w/mo's, and there you go: another 55'er...

so funny..

I don't know about this, but I have noticed that when a player drops, they're almost always replaced by someone with the primary/secondary. So, at least when replacing a player, there is some organizing principle at work.

All I've noticed is that the Asian teams are always balanced with one monk, a warrior and two others. Every freakin' time.

I agree with you. Maybe not EVERY time, but I would say that 90-95% of the time I run into Asian teams in RA they will have a monk and a warrior on their team. I don't think that's very random.

Oh yeah, that's the other thing. You can synchronize with your entrance with your buddies, and have a good chance of landing on the same team. I've never tried it myself, but I assume you do it by going to a low population district, noting the time when the next match begins, and all hitting enter at 00:00

Yes, I think most monks I've met in the random arena make this observation.
Most of the matches with monks tend to have 2-3 monks on the same team, it seems.
Very typical conversation;
Monk 1 - "Wow... 3 monks... x_x"
Monk 2 - "Why is it that I only ever get monks on my team when I'm a monk?"
Monk 3 - [silent]
Monk 1 - "I don't know, I just picked a monk because I was sick of being in teams without them."
Monk 2 - "Yeah, I know what you mean lolz."
Monk 3 - [silent]
Other - "woamg, 3 monks..."
[Team wins attrition victory]
Other team's whiner - "YOU GUYS SUCK MY ----" "LAME ---- ---- WUSSES HAVE 3 ----IN MONKS."

Or something like that.

I'm usually that silent monk just trying to figure out if I can trick the game in to thinking my warrior is my monk so I can get one on my team for once.

It's probably because ANET wants a MONK in a RA team, primary OR secondary. If theres a bunch of w/mo's, odds are there won't be a primary monk. i have noticed that when I'm monking I get put with a bunch of monks though, not sure why that is >.<. Maybe I should just start smiting all the time )

Internet cafe trick.

Please note when you get a good team yourself. It's as easy to forget about a 20+ win streak as it is to remember a bad team.

Its totally random. What you guys are forgetting is that the good teams keep winning. The reason you run into so many Monk, Warrior, Warrior, Necro teams is because those teams win and thus keep playing and the bad combinations are weeded out.

As far as monks who seem to "always" end up with another monk, thats because its noticable. Its just as common for there to be two monks on a random arena team as two mesmers or two warriors, it's just that when you get a two warrior team you it doesn't stick out in your mind. If you don't believe me, play in 100 different RA teams and keep track of every team and see what the statistics say.

This is RA teams... If you find 1 good group you win to up to 10 and maybe more if your team is really good because after 10 its strait to TA. But it always seems when I PvP it is like 75% of the time I don't have a monk and face a more "ballanced" team and 20% of the time actually getting into a ballanced team and start winning and 5% of the time I get into a ballanced team and kicked the living s--- out of me because the other team seemed to know our build for some odd reason...

there are 3 logical explenations of your plight.

1) Anet has you tagged as to never get very far in the RA, so they pit you, and your unfortunte team, against a fully organized asian team in the Team Arenas instead of the random ones. (If by some freak accident, divine intervention, or power outage, you win... they will all be rezzed, replaced by superpowered AI, and will procede to virtualy rape you O_o) If this is your situation, quit random arenas. Your blood pressure, and not-smashed keyboards, will thank you.

2) like me, one event that pisses you off to the very core sticks in your mind to the point that it multiplies in your memory and instead of one single event, you remember a whole series of the same event. If this is the situation, just forget everything you know, its probobly a lie.

3) Lastly, Murphey's law hates you. If this is the case, make all negitive things that happen to you seem positive. This will confuse Murpheys law, and either good things will happen to you, or you will die in a freak leemur accident.

You just have to laugh when the opposing team somehow ends up with a Boon prot, a Shock Warrior, an E-surger and an SS Necro; only for you to be teamed up with a Minion Master, a Heal Area wammo*shudders*,and a Frenzy using Monk..while you're testing out a Hamstormer.

Drat, drat...and double drat! caught out again! Yes that was me.

One of the reasons for the asian teams being more balanced...this might be a reason...I believe sometimes we might be playing against a TA team. I don't know if that's possible.

Anyway...this morning... I jumped into my monk outfit...joined ra...can you believe it...my first game is with another monk.

I am now certain there is pairing going on.

If I play a warrior the chances are there will be other warriors on my team.

The point I'm making is if I play a warrior I rarely have a monk on my team. It does happen but not often. Play a monk and see how often another monk or two appears.

I've spent the last month or so in RA unlocking every skill etc. The pattern is noticeable.

Anyone ever notice how most of the time when you come up against an asian team in RA they have seemingly gotten to choose their groupmates and the team builds they end up with are incredibly balanced and effective?

I mean RA for americans is lop-sided as hell most of the time but for asians it does not seem that way.

I call that you are just facing a team from the team arenas.

Either that or most Asian players are better than American players.

Either is perfectly possible

I've noticed this too. Its been awhile since I've ran into an unorganized asian team. I've always thought myself that their TA fight in our RA, now seeing someone else that thinks it maybe I'm not so crazy. :P

I have a theory... It covers the "Why asians seem to have better teams" and "Why do I always seem to get less monks than my opponents".

In a winner-stays-on type of system, unless there are enough people playing for winning teams to keep facing off against others with an equal number of wins they're going to start being matched up against the newer teams.

So, this is why on a slow night/morning... whenever, you seem to be really unlucky in the team matchups and being pit against a lot of well balanced teams with nothing but W/Mo's for company.

Perhaps the same kind of thing happens with teams in all realms, when they run out of people to fight from their area they get matched up against foreign teams. This could explain why every asian team you come up against seem to be really well organised, they've probably won 6+ games already.

Yes, I'm sure we all know that 10 wins switches you from RA to TA. But this is after 4 or 5 wins that we run into a team. They use TA builds in RA call that coincidence if you want, my theory is that the asian players dont have as many as the US. So maybe they have to match them with our teams. It could even happen with europe but since their names dont stand out we would probably just think they got a good random team.

Nope, Asian teams never felt harder to beat in RA for me. If anything (on a european server) they seemed weaker than most teams.

Ya I do this sometimes with my guildies. You just all count down on vent or something and hit enter mission at the same time. If all your countdown timers are the same, and the timer is above 20 seconds, you've got a good chance to be matched up with your buddies. If not, you just cancel and countdown again.

Yea, I bet ANet lets their TA join our RA since they suck at PvP anyway
