"A user may choose to share a non-unique collectable with a friend for a fixed amount of time (20 minutes?) after which the thing automatically returns to the owner. The borrower cannot, in any way, be considered as the owner of the thing, but may use any type-specific behavior: he may ride the bike, spin the top, etc."

I think this idea is ingenious, the usage of sharing in GW would foster better player attitude.
Proposed as one of many ways to defeat ebaying.

I like the idea - give x item to friend and they can't do anything with it except use it then it returns automatically.

I'm not sure if this has to do with it, but I think if someone lends a customized item to you for God-knows-what reason, they shouldn't be allowed to salvage it for one of the mods if they decide to be a jerk and do so. Nor would they be allowed to sell to merchant or anything. Only the person it's customized for can do that.

Runs into issues such as free inventory space when the item needs to be returned, or prehaps space in your storage could just be "reserved" for it once time is up.
