Monk using a shield?
Serpreme
Does this really work? Do i see a Blocked thing pop up when i have a shield...and if so what good is tactics? could someone give me the run down on why i want to have a high tactics rating..like i would want a high axe mastery for my axe?

Make a warrior and get a shield.. Shields dont block, they just add in armor. The shield SKILLS make the shield ur best friend.

Considering you can get like +27 energy and +30hp on a monk offhand item, I don't think I'll be using a shield anytime soon.

A 16 AL shield reduces the damage you take by 24%. That's pretty good.

Ahh could you explain to me the armor formula on how it relates to damage taken or direct me to a thread that could.
Hmm if the shield as is does me nothing, loooks like i'm going with a offhander thats better then a shield...if the AC bonus doesnt out weight it

[Actualized Damage] = [Effective Damage] × [Defensive Adjustment]
Effective damage is the damage assiggned to a player/monster based on weapon damage, mastery etc...
Defensive adjustment is the armour's effect.
[Defensive Adjustment] = 2^((60 - [Armor Level]) / 40)
Thus at 60 AL you suffer exactly the damage assigned to you. Less than 60 you suffer more, more than 60 you suffer less. Every 40 AL increase/decrease halves/doubles the damage actualised. Thus 16 AL is 24% less damage.
