Should Fame be tied to PVE characters in the 1st place instead?
Nightwish
As we all know, there is a lot of debates on whether the current fame now is actually worthy to show one's pvp skills beside map experience. The main reason is that many players can make certain builds that compliment FOTM well and stick with it (e.g. IWAY).
So lets say Fame is tied with a PVE character's pvp experience. That way, the players cannot change their primary character other than their secondary profession. So a rank 9 pve monk character will much more likely to be a better monk than a rank 9 monk now (who possibly gain that much fame through other means or characters).
Of course, this method will probably make Fame even more worthy/valuable and alienates those without any.
P.S. I personally feels that we are better off without any fame-related ranks. It discriminates casual players like myself.

I've always thought that fame should be character-based, not account-based.
Avarre
Fame is more an indicator of expertise of the maps and tactics of Heroes Ascent, rather than an measure of capability with a single character type. Character skill is obtainable anywhere, but skill in the HoH is only from HoH... hence thats what Fame really measures
I say leave it how it is, leave PvE out of this.. (note: I'm a rank 2 PvE'er)

So basicly you would want to make it so we can only play one class?
no, just no.
Also, fame is for HA, not PvE.

Fame should be linked to a particular character as its the character that gains fame not the account. Wells thats my 2cents.

Avarre explained the function of Fame crystal clear indeed. I was kind of misleaded about it until now, my apologies. I rest my case.

Let's not do that shall we?

what about class-based fame?... :P

This is all a very bad idea. While the class-based fame is better than character-based fame, it's still an aweful idea.
I can tell you right now that there's at least one person in my guild that, though he prefers to play only casters, would make a better warrior than a lot of the others (myself included) in my guild simply because he knows the maps and the overal strategies better.
That's yet another thing about PvP that sets it apart from PvE. It doesn't matter what your character has done. It matters what you the player have done. It doesn't matter how much experience your character has. It matters how much experience you the player have. Therefore, the rewards of fame and rank shouldn't be limited to your character in any way. They should be linked to you the player, ie: your account.

Also with the current system they would have to keep the same secondary that they chose to start with as well.
Yeah that sounds 'fair' and logical

Why do PvE'eres want Fame anyway?

As fame, factions and experience are conditioned by how much time have been played, they may be considered just as a standard expression of the players ability; I mean similar to having a degree (master, doctor, or whatever). Therefore, having a certain rank is indicative of a certain standard of performance, not of geniality.
In my view this is allright, but, I like the following suggestion:
I concur, a profession based Fame would be interesting(also, for Factions). Else, I would like there were some basic statistics about the players performance with different professions, like: time played, deaths, experience, factions, fame per profession.
