Tomb Of Primeval Kings

maybe there is a thread for this but i coulnd find it
my experience with b/p groups wasnt that good , i hope it will be one day .. but the main reason i come here is to post the builds i have been in .. please post yours , dont need to post witch one is faster or cooler , i think it depends more on players , team work , etc.
builds based on one warrior have that one problem , he must lead , and people need to give him space to get full agro , unpatient groups dont work with this build
1 stance , 2 healers , 5 nukers ( for me this is the best and fast )
this one is not so warrior based , with the Miniums make a wall , helps a lot unorganized groups and doesnt require as much of leading
1 stance , 1 MM , 1 battery , 2 healers , 3 nukers
please post more builds and feel free to make usefull coments on all builds you find here.
main reason this thread is important is becose tomb is full of barrage pets groups , witch i dont mind and find cool , but people must know that if you run anything else will take 3 hours or wont work , is not true , other builds work very well if people work as a team.

Ummm.... With a Barrage/Pet team build you only need one healer. You need 5 B/P Rangers, 1 MM, 1 Order Necro and one healer =/ Unless what you posted above was something else.... lol. And i've only ever been in B/P teams for Tombs, a few bad PUG's but that's about it. They work fine for me really lol.

my post was bazed on what i see people spaming , ive never been in a serius b/p also , im hoping someone can clear it out.

Most commonly, you will encounter teams with (as Auron-X mentioned) 5 B/P rangers, a Minion Master, an Orders Necromancer, and a Healing monk.
The monk is not mandatory, but is of great help to the team with timely spike heals.
the Orders necromancer, once again, not mandatory, but greatly increases the killing speed on the team.
Minion Master, oh the Minion Master, the most important position in the whole run. Provides the whole team with a wall, protecting them from aggro.
5 Rangers? The team that kills!
Neoteo, your bad experiences were all just coincidental. With a solid MM and a decent puller, the Tombs should not be that hard to deal with.
Other than the basic b/p team build, I've taken part in a group with 2 healers, 2 nukers, 2 monks, and 2 'tanks'.
Not very fun.

I'm not sure why it's called b/p build when it should really be called MM with a few rangers to get the first corpse.
All it really takes is a MM, monk, and enough rangers (2 or 3) to kill the first group in each lvl. But that would take hours. 5 rangers and an orders nec make it so much faster.

The MM is key most of the time, but there are a few times when the MM is not well equipped to help. These are:
- The beginning of each level when there are no corpses
- The right leg of the second layer, when you are surrounded by terrorwebs on their perches. Minions will rarely make it through that gauntlet, and if they do, the popups are usually enough to finish them off
- The center worms in the 3rd level.
- The first part of the last level. Even after you have a few corpses to work with here, aggro management is so tricky with the minions, I usually try to let the rangers do the killing here until we get to the last group. Even fiends will sometimes run off and ruin aggro.
These are the spots I find toughest when doing this as MM.

B/P teams run Tombs much faster than balanced team also. I've done both. Balanced teams can take a painfully long time in Tombs where a B/P team can do it in under an hour. Also, I've had much greater success in B/P teams than I have in so called "balanced teams."

I have only tried the underworld twice, made it through once, and it was with a b/p group that auron mentioned, we lost our order necro 3 maps in. but still made it... I had a blast, and can't wait to do it again.

barrage/pet is just too good to play anything else, unless don't own a necro, ranger or monk =)
Stormlord Alex
I've been through Tombs with both my Warrior (balanced team, 2 Warriors, 2 Monks, an Ele, a curse Necro [SS, I think], an E-surge Mesmer and a Trapper/Interrupter Ranger); and my Ranger, in a B/P run.
Comparing the two, the 'balanced' team was drawn out, long and far too much hassle. The Ranger B/P team was a lot more fun... dropping stuff in seconds with Barrage is actually rather fulfilling. If you have trouble with B/P PuGs, then take a team of Guildies... i do most of the time. ^^
Besides, Warriors, eles, and all the other classes have a lot more niches in other high-end farming locations. Let Rangers enjoy one of the few places that they are wanted.

In a b/p team, try taking a nuker instead of one barrager (or even 2 nukers). We took an ele who mostly cast meteor showers and stuff, which killed stuff really fast, leaving the rangers to pick off the enemies that were outside of the aoe spell radius.

The monk is really unecessary in a b/p team....most pug monks in ToPK suck anyways. I was in a b/p group where the one monk an a ranger left, leaving us with 4 rangers, the MM, and the orders nec. We cleared everything, including the bosses pretty easily with the only heals coming from troll unguent and heal breeze on the order nec (although I think heal other would have been nicer had I known I would be the only healer)

I mostly play a B/P ranger in tombs for the ease of getting in a group. A few groups were brave enough to let me bring my Me/R in place of a B/P ranger and we flew through the casters much quicker. Basically it was a Mes with a res sig, a pet/pet rez, and 5 nasty domination anticaster/interrupter skills.
So that got me wondering... and we tried something new. We took 5 Mesmer/Rangers, all with pets, all with fast casting maxed. 3 Mesmers were geared for casters, 2 were geared for warriors. We had 1 B/P ranger, one MM and 1 monk. After the 1st map we had it down. Basically it took slightly longer than a B/P group, but we were never hard pressed... if that makes sense. And we were on comms. I don't think this build would work in a PUG... not with 1 monk and no battery.

I am pretty sure that the standard b/p set up is the fastest and safest way to get the greens. It is really too bad that the balanced groups can't come anywhere near it in speed. I would like to get my warrior involved, but tombs is no place for a warrior. No fun at all. My ranger does not have a pet so he can't come either. I generally go as the orders necro. LOL. Easiest job I ever had! Purely support. I keep the monk and mm brimming with energy. The rangers are vampires stealing life with barrages for +17 damage and health bonus. I drop a well when things get bad for a rally point. I carry rebirth but really only have to use it with bad groups.
I have gotten probably 10 greens in the last 6 runs. Well, my fighter and ranger have nice new weapons, but i stilll need a couple of those shields.....

If you want a barrage/pet build and understand how to use it, go to GuildWiki. Personally, I would change a couple skills here or there, but overall, it's really informative as they go into detail each build and their roles as well as variants.

b/p is definitely the way to go, despite the mass of nubins. I find we can survive even with a monk leaver, suicidal orders or non R/Mo rangers. (Yes, ok, there's some ligit uses for R/E and R/N, but R/Mo is the tried and tested method)
I consider myself a damn good MM, with good minion control, build, and gear. (72 energy swap out and the +1 (20%) death staff for main). Still, I've never completed tombs in under an hour. =(
As for not taking a monk, whenever I suggest it after joining a monkless group, I get shouted down or kicked. If I try to start a group without a monk, I get moaned at to take one. Meh.
