The Imbalances in PvE and PvP with botters
Age
The imbalances in pve and pvp with botters.Yes like it says there are numerous of imbalance in the 2 of them when it comes to the botters in game. What I mean by all this is remember when there was no faction for pvpers and how the drop rates were better and you might of got the great mod to unlock for pvp well faction has hurt the pve side of game by all the nerfing going on.It is really easy to farm for faction in 1 hour or 30 min you can get to 10k and unlock what you need as I have most or 90% or weapon upgrades unlocked thru faction.
Well maybe it is time pvers get faction as well instead of gold this may help in dealing with botters.Instead of gold drop there will be fation drops all you do is when you want something just use faction instead and if you need a run somwhere pay that runner with an item or rune of some kind. This might even help the economy of the game out as well and maybe like pvp but a cap on it up to 10k so you will have to use it and 20K for your vault do you can get your 15K armor and no materials required just like pvp.It would just mean to get your 20K and go and buy that 1 piece of armor and go out and get another 20K faction.when it comes to buying from the merchants it will be unlimited meaning you can buy more than 1 type of rune at a time say 3 sup absorbtion runes etc etc.when it comes to weapon mode just go the weapons merchant and get the mod you need.I am not posting this in the suggestion forum as it has gotten a lot of news latey with the 55 farming builds they can still go out and get XP to unlock more skills.
This is what has made pvp more superior to pve is when faction arrived it is time for both sides to have it.Faction would be non transferable as well.

.... are you saying PvP chars > PvE?
If so, you're an idiot.
If that is not what you are saying, how about you learn basic english and make sense, I had to read this twice to know what the hell was going on.

I agree with the above poster that your post is quite confusing. But, here is what I think you're saying. You want to replace gold with "faction" which will be no different in any way shape or form from gold, except you will be unable to trade it to other people to pay for goods and services. So basically, you want to make it so that the only people who we can pay with gold is NPCs, and if we want anything from any other player, we would have to go through the tremendous trouble of finding something of exact equal value to trade that other player. You want to take Guild Wars to the stone-age or something? Don't you understand the concept of money? What you're proposing is the same thing as if the dollar, or anything equivalent, as we know it was completely removed from the world. Meaning, if we want to pay for something, we'd have to do it with other tangible goods in a bartering system. This would slow down everything and everybody. Instead of being able to instantly purchase an item from a player for gold, you'd have to go out of your way to find something of "equal value" to trade with. and of course, you can't just trade just anything of equal value, it would have to be something that the player you're trading with actually needs. Money was created a long time ago because it's 100% impracticle to have a large scale economy without it.
"Hey I'll give you my shoe for a Big Mac."
"No, give me both of your shoes."
"Hmm, how about I give you one shoe and one glove?"
"Sounds good. You want fries with that?"
Remove gold from the game? Are you trying to commit virtual suicide?

How about everyone shut the hell up about damn bots, faction, fame, gold, greens, drops, and nerfs. Instead of whining, play the fscking game already.
We must see about 50 of these posts a day. "I DON'T LIKE HOW THIS WORKS, SO CHANGE IT NOW!!"
Nobody cares as much as you think they do.

I feel that you have failed to support your idea that faction somehow causes PvE nerfs. Faction does not cause PvE botters, and I'm very curious as to what reasoning you have to connect the two. PvE botters exist because there is a market for EBay gold through which people can make real-life money. Anytime there is the potential to make real-life money, there will be someone willing to attempt it regardless of risks.
The only thing Faction changed when introduced to the game was to allow PvPers to get their unlocks, and thus flexibility, without needing to play PvE. How does this promote botting? If anything, faction would reduce the number of botters, since there are fewer PvPers looking for a way to get quickly through the PvE and on to what they enjoy (ie: a few less people potential buyers for unIDed items on EBay).
Since it's the connection between faction and botters that you use to support the rest of your idea, I think the idea isn't even worth looking at. However, for the sake of argument I'll say that giving PvEers faction is meaningless. Faction exists as a means to unlock things for PvP. Therefore in its current state it has 0 value to a PvE character. To try and give it some value you suggest making it equivalent to a new form of currency.
I'm sorry, but no number of new currencies introduced into the PvE game is going to either stop botters or reinvigorate the game's economy.
The bottom line? Aweful idea.

I've been seeing alot of posts about botters lately. My honest opinion about them is... LEAVE them alone!!! if thats how they wanna play the game let them play the game that way! o boy they are selling gold on ebay.. wow.. lets take a look...
man look how many people are buying them.... not.. look how many pages they are... tons.. and all of selling gold that no one has either bought it through buy it now or bids..
they ruin the economy? how? they are farming money. you farm money. maybe not as much as them but you do.
everytime i see something saying.. " report their account for botting" it makes me mad because hey thats how they like to play the game. SERIOUSLY people! how bout you play the game and not worry about how others that are playing the game their way!!!!
and dont say buying gold ruins the economy because as far as i know the greens accomplished that awhile ago.
ending my rant about ranters ranting agianst botters ( wow that was hard to say
).
p.s. im sry if this kinda goes off topic form the op but i dont wanna start a new topic about this...

I never complain about someone playing the game the way they want to. However, the simple fact of the matter is that botters don't play the game. They write computer programs to play it for them.
That is a problem. Games are meant for playing.

what? your post dosnt even make sense. I guess i get what your trying to say, but in no way does faction ruin PvE players. Faction only works for PvP, it dosnt effect PvE at all.

I say keep ther gold drops for PvE & factions for PvP, unless that some how changes for GW:F(which I highly think will not happen).
As for botters...well I play from time to time a FPS game(UT2003/04) and the botters there did/do hurt the game alot. But here in GW...if you play the game your way, and leave the botters play thier way. Every thing will be fine, that an Anet will get them sooner or later.
Meaning don't buy gold/items off of EBay, that easy. And if you do, that's your choose.
LOL!!!

I think what Age is trying to say is that without gold there would be no bots or professional farmers, this is -in someways- correct.
The suggestion on offer was rather that we have faction with which we could buy skills and items (in many ways like PvP players) faction that would be non-transferable between two player characters, thus making it IMPOSSIBLE to buy and sell gold on ebay.
Having said this of couse, weapons would still be ebay-able, so while it might fix SOME of the problems that currently exist, it certainly isn't going to fix them all.

Yes it would make it very difficult for the botters to make money, but it would also make it very difficult for everyone else too. Exchanging goods and services would be extremely tedious.

PvE players can earn gold and buy mods/runes/armor. PvP players are stuck with just the PvP gear. With rune/armor swapping in matches being so effective, PvE characters definately have the upper hand there. Personally I use a PvE monk in PvP, with 3 different sets of armor and 8 headgears that I can swap on demand.
I'm really not entirely sure how you think that the addition of faction led to nerfing in PvE? That seems an entirely ridiculous statement.
The whole point of faction is so that PvP players have limited grind, because PvP is not about time spent. This is not an advantage, PvP players do not have an easier time. As I said earlier, to be truely competitive you would be using a PvE character anyway.
Faction should be non-transferable? The 10k that you apparently earn in an hour and a half would be wasted? That's going to make a huge impact, isn't it...
In short, your post is basicly rubbish. The point you are trying to make is non-existant. The same old PvP vs PvE argument re-hashed to make even less sense than usual.
