Ability to create more than 4 characters

Hi guys,

I started playing Guild Wars 2-3 weeks ago and i aleredy used all my 4 character slots. Because of that i have to leave 1 slot open and remake a specific PvP build over and over again, this gets frustrating at times. I'm prety sure that i am not the only one that would like more characters slots, 4 is just to little.

So what do you guys think of this idea?

No, I agree, we should have more slots.
Does anyone have any official statement from Anet/NCsoft, about why they only put in 4 slots.

i would think because of server space, they are holdding alot of peoples char's on there servers and, unlike other mmog's whare they are getting paid every month to keep that information, they ( anet) are not. they dont have the luxery of knowing that a check is going to come every month so they need to be weary of how they use there server space.

thats my take on it.

ps: i know that gw dosent use servers like other games, but it is still held on servers.

Well I wouldn't complain, most MMORPG's only allow 1 character per account.

4 is ok I guess, maybe 5 so you could have 2 PvP and 3 PvE? I dunno, whatever your flavour plays as.

I think we need 6 (atleast)

one slot for each profession.

Yeah, six, so we can have one primary of each, you can change secondary in the game later so that doesn't matter TOO much.

one *official* statement during an interview they said as new professions /races are released the number of slots would be *reasonably adjusted* which you can make what you want of it

since they seem to be planning for more later possibly they didnt want too many at the start

I think that the CE version should have gotten 2 extra slots instead of having a stupid sparklie goal (that you CANT SHUT OFF) during emotes.

If they just didn't want to make the charcters too powerful by given them a bonus, that would have been a great way.

A simple way of doing this would be allowing an activated account to "assimlate" an unactivated account by punching in the cd-key. You get more cash and you basicly just get an upgraded account which has 4 extra slots. Everybody wins.

some people bought it and later got a gift copy

it would be nice to merge both accounts

also for those who are willing to buy a second copy for the extra spaces it would be more convenient on one account rather than 2 separate logins on 2 accounts

not retarded at all

Too bad they don't sell CD Keys seperate for people who already have the game so you can have two accounts with one game. But to make this more difficult for people to merely install the software from a friend then buy a key, they would have to do it from their setup account screen that would lead them to a secure site on the net where they could buy another account via paypal for ten or fifteen dollars for four extra spots.

I just think if they somehow linked it to your existing account to where only you could access this page or what not through the client, a type of java window or something that wouldn't work if you copied the address or something, it'd be cheaper than buying another copy but allow ANet and NCSoft to get a little extra money that would be optional, not a requirement

I know this sounds confusing but I'm certain it could be done somehow... Just a suggestion to make everyone happy in one way or another...

I agree with bobert, six should be good enough for now. I mean it does make some sense to give everyone the ability to have one character for each primary profession.

Seven would be a better number - one for each primary profession and a slot for a PvP character.

4 is enough, because if you've gotten 4 to lvl 20 then that's probably enough hours played. Also, arena net doesn't want each player having 20 names, because it clogs thier servers and storage, because a lot of the 20 might not be used. Like instant messenger or something.

I'm sure they would have let you have more if they could have, but they didn't want any more clogging than necessary.

Adaria: They do sell cdkeys seperately. If you go to www.plaync.com, you can buy another copy online and get the code emailed to you.

Ah, yeah I did see that. My friend wants another one but paying for a whole nother game seems abit pointless, but PlayNC.com would give you just the key so... yeah lol.

Enough hours played? D: I didn't buy the game expecting to play it a certain amount of hours and then stop, if that's what you mean. I agree that 6 is the happy number.. makes more sense than any other number. (I must have one of each primary profession!)

Hmmm...as I see it, four is actually a real big gift from ArenaNet. Thanks, ANet! Like someone said before, they're not getting paid for all this extra room for our "alternate" characters. IMO I think one is enough, two max. First, you make a character to unlock everything for PvP. If you're a RP kind of guy, then you can simply Xunlai Storage all the sentimental items and gold and remake a new character. If you're a PvP'er, then simply unlock, delete, and create a PvP character. When you're bored of that, delete and make a new one. They start at lvl 20 anyways.

Just my opinion, because one slot is the bare minimum we need to play the game, and we aren't giving ArenaNet much else other than the right to play the game. Four slots IMO is a boon, and if you find you need more, don't you think Guild Wars is a decent enough game and ArenaNet a decent enough organization that you would shell out an extra $50 to buy another account?

I don't see why they can't allow for account upgrades?
Charge you a set amount of cash for X number of character slots?

Personally I would like 2-4 more slots....with access to the same storage.

I would pay for another 2 slots.

Could they also not possibly add slots to accounts that purchase any future expansions? That's be a nice thing to do, not only would you be getting new content but also an extra character slot on your account.

I would also like to have another slot... at least 7... 6 for each primary (the armor collection) and 1 for pvp...

4 are just too few...

of course... personally i would like to have 13 so i have 6 male primary and 6 female primary so i get to try out all the outfit by myself... and the 1 for pvp.

What is it with u people that say 6 would but enough and that guy saying that 4 is a gift i dont know if any of u played diablo before but you could have as many characters as u wanted and alot of people played that game and it didnt slow anything down 40 slots is reasonable!!!

Hunter... THe thing you are forgetting when comparing GW to Diablo is that all GW characters are on THEIR server.. Diablo characters were on individual PCs.

Only parts of the characters were saved to the pc, the rest were saved to the servers (but they did have more servers which gave them more space)

If they are going to add classes in expansion maybe we should make it like 8-10 characters. :P

8 characters imo would be good.

err. dunno which MMO's you've been playing. most I've ever played allowed anywhere between 6-15. Only one i know of that was 1 slot per account was Final Fantasy 11 and even they allowed you to expand by simply paying an extra $1 a slot. Of course, FFXI was a diffrent sort of game where you could change between classes anytime you wanted so you didnt really NEED more then 1 slot.

Anywho, 6-8 slots sounds good to me.

as many of you stated i think it should be possible to have one character of each primary class.

I also have to say that I think the upgrade/merging idea of 2 cd-keys into one account is GREAT, it allows the players to have as many characters as they want and it will provide arenanet with additional funds for servers, maintenance etc. As it is now you will have to buy 2 of every expansion, and also have 2 separate storages.

They are probably expecting more money to flow in from people who have four characters they like not wanting to delete one and then buying another copy of the game so that they can try out different primary classes.

Still, I think that it is reasonable to give people who bought the CE version of the game (and paid almost double the price) to have 2 additional character slots, because devine aura turned out to be crap, and teamspeak will eventually cost money if you wish to continue to use it and putting it in the game was most advertising for teamspeak than a gift. No bout TS paid for some of the costs to put their particular brand in the CE editions.

i'm still anticipating what they are gonna do here. imo... its not really a matter of if they change things for us, but a matter of when. i now have two GW accounts becuase i couldnt wait for them to make a decision as to what to do. i just hope now they will let me add both of those accounts into one and have the 8 characters playable on one account. It sucks not being alble to freely move my great axe to my warrior when i want. I have to find somebody in my guild that's not doing anything and burden him while i make the swap.

Here is another idea...
When you get expansion, you get the choice of getting one a little more expensive but adds character slots.

I'd happily do that if you could link the unlocked skills/items/vault.

I would like to have a primary from each class and a PvP toon.
